Has been a great batsman but not so great captain but not as bad as people make out.

Captaining a team that lost the likes of Gilchrist, Hayden, Warne, McGrath, Langer, Martin, McGill, Gillespie etc was never going to be easy for anyone.

Aslong as it was his choice and his choice alone
How Clarke gets the captaincy will make me cry
He should be replaced by Uzi in the batting order
in all forms of the game,he should be captaining
whatever state he has signed with (NSW?)

    Useless little merkin he is

Wow, I'm surprised at that announcement. Thought he would have toughed it out. I hope they hang onto him as a batsman, the guy is an absolute legend and deserves to finish on his own terms. On par with Tendulkar and Lara as the best of his generation. Who could forget those back to back double tons against India, that was when he was at the height of his powers.

I'll be interested to see if he also decides to bite the bullet and drop down the order, probably get rid of Steve Smith. Not sure who steps into the number 3 spot though, probably Usman. Also does Katich come back for a stint as Captain at the expense of Hughes ? Is Clarke ready to step up ?

    My pick

    Watson
    Katich (c)
    Khawaja
    Clarke
    Hussey
    Ponting
    Haddin
    Johnson
    Hauritz / Beer / Krejza / Smith
    Harris
Hilf / Siddle / Bolly / other in no particular order of preference

Love to see Katto as captain, just mainly for Clontaago's reaction.  At least next time we play the ashes we wont have three short mid wickets and no slips in place.

Well,Clarke should stick to shield cricket, besides excellent fielding when did he last do anything of note?

A score in a dead series matters not to me

Even if it is 8 hours after stumps and you have Lara Bingle wanting to shag you.

I'm personally taking credit for Michael Clarke making it to the captaincy.  The 170 not out my side let him get in I think under 14s or so was the key innings that set up his career.

He made scores in the world cup.  Dead series?

So basically nothing counts unless it was made in the quarter final against the Indians.  Every other game he has played doesn't count for form.

Go back to getting David Hussey in the test side as your specialist spinner.

If we picked on history we'd have Tubby and Bradman opening with Ponting 3rd and Border 4th

History is irrelevant in current selections

Yeah? Well butter my biscuit! lol

Clarke is still a ****house batsman at the moment so lets
bundle captaincy ontop of that and see how many in a row
we can lose due to his lack of batting skill
