Reserve Grader
These players are off contract at the end of 2016... Some of these players should be resigned and others let go.

- Luke Burgess - Halauafu Lavaka - Siosaia Vave
- Pita Godinet - Brenton Lawrence - Brayden Williame
- Fabian Goodall - Blake Leary - Rhys Armstrong
- Nathan Green - Feleti Mateo
- Jayden Hodges - Hugh Pratt
- Nicholas Hynes - Tony Satani
- Isaac John - Josh Starling
- Dylan Kelly - Jorge Taufua

Players who Manly should resign IMO-

- Pita Godinet - 1 year (He can cover hooker or halves and he's been great this year but needs to work on his defence).

- Fabian Goodall - 1 year (He's playing out of position in NSW cup but we should keep him since Satani may be leaving).
- Nathan Green - 2 years (Great cover for second row if they get injured or suspended)
- Nicholas Hynes - 1 year (He would make a great combination with Isaac John in NSW cup IMO)
- Isaac John - 1 year (He can cover in halves if Daly is injured)

- Dylan Kelly - 2 years (Apparently he's playing well in NSW cup so might as well keep him) Lol.

- Halauafu Lavaka - 1 year (Very close on making his debut but not this year and he is very dangerous with the ball)

- Jorge Taufua - 3 years (He's improving under the high ball and he's a great finisher)

- Brayden Williame - 1 year (I don't mind him, he's doing his job and he's not making silly mistakes like he did in the beginning of the year. But I think centre is his best position).

- Rhys Armstrong - 1 year (I don't know him so might as well resign him).

Players who should be let go IMO-

- Luke Burgess - Super league (I think he'll end up in super league IMO)

- Jayden Hodges - Cowboys or Super League (Pita Godinet is slightly better IMO)

- Brenton Lawrence - Tigers or retire (We have so many props next year, I wish he can stay but I think he'll leave)

- Blake Leary - Super League or another NRL club (I don't rate him and we we already have small forwards - Lewis Brown and Jamie Buhrer)

- Feleti Mateo - Retire (I think this is his last season to be honest, he can't crack into the side)

- Hugh Pratt - Another NRL club (Great player but we have to many hookers next year)

- Tony Satani - Knights (Apparently he's signed with Knights I've heard, I'm not sure but
Goodall should cover his position at left winger in NSW cup)

- Josh Starling - Sharks (I think he could be David Fifita's replacement and we have to many props next year)

- Siosaia Vave - Eels (He's signed with the Eels, your career will be ruined big Vave)

Remember this is my opinion... We're going to have a big forward pack with a great backline next season.

Players who we should target for 2017-

- Tui Lolohea (He could partner DCE nicely)
- Joseph Manu (He would be a great replacement for Steve Matai who could retire this year)
- Francis Molo (He can be part of our depth, prop is his best position)
- Blake Green (Another option who could partner DCE next season).

Williame has already re-signed for 2 years. As for Goodall - he is playing prop and backrow, so I can't see him playing wing any more - he is a big unit alright.

Re sign

Taufua-3 years
Williame-2 years
Hynes-1 year
Green-2 years
John-1 year
Godinet-1 year
Starling-2 years

What about Hymel Hunt and Javid Bowen for centre .neither should break the bank. Manu Mau is an outstanding player - who ever we get , we need to sign the best players available before they go to the opposition teams .

Jorge improving under the high ball I'd like to s e that but can't see it happening

Green, Taufua are a good chance of staying, Williame already signed
Youngsters Kelly & Armstrong can play & worth consideration.
The rest can go, though consideration for outside backs will need rebooting for backup as looking thin.
Vave...simply deserved a spot on performance but can't keep them all, plus AFB & the addition of Meehan will add any lack of size...then there is another big bopper on the way.
Additions
*Possibly Mau or Lewis (age a risk but adds experience & backbone)
Best would be Solomona & believe he is a chance though Roosters a show & Storm keen to keep him.
* Lolohea , Bowen, Ross, French ....basically some pace & abilty out wide- is Tupou Roosters worth a go for a tall timber on the wing?
Not great choice, so maybe pick some quality youngsters at value & develope.

I've often wondered whether Jorge would have the ability to play in the centres ala Konrad Hurrell. It would give us the advantage of speed from Walker and power from Jorge plus minimise the stress of watching him being targeted in the air.
I realise there could be trouble with lateral defence or slow play the balls but these are things that could be worked in an off season.

I've read plenty of times on here the "Horhay to centre" theory. Personally I can't see it myself. Sure he runs hard but there is so much more to playing centre then running hard. For a start you need to be creative with the ball, and be able to set up your outside man. Horhay can't pass. Then you have the very important defensive element, I'm not sure Horhay has the technique nor the game awareness to survive in the cut throat world of centre defence. I could be wrong, but I don't see it working.

You Chip, and everyone at Manly for the past 5 years. Given the number of dire opportunities that have occurred in that time to play him in the centres, the fact he hasn't, tells me he must have proven himself beyond all doubt as the worst centre prospect in the history of the game.

Brenton Lawrence is a favourite of mine. When's he's on the field he's exciting to watch and a real trier. Unfortunately injuries have ruined the last two seasons.
The smart decision would be to move him on. But if there was a good chance he had overcome his injuries, and was keen, I'd retain him for one season.
That's my heart talking, not my head.

I'd actually go with the below next season:

01. Tom Trbojevic
02. Jorge Taufua
03. Steve Matai (Hope he goes around again)
04. Dylan Walker
05. Brayden Wiliame
06. Apisai Koroisou
07. Daly Cherry-Evans
08. Marty Taupau
09. Matt Parcell
10. Darcy Lussick
11. Nathan Green
12. Jamie Buhrer
13. Jake Trbojevic

14. Lewis Brown
15. Addin Fanua-Blake
16. Nate Myles
17. Brenton Lawrence

+ Siosaia Vave: Parramatta Eels
+ Feleti Mateo: UK
+ Tom Symonds: Huddersfield Giants
+ Luke Burgess: UK
+ Brett Stewart: Catalan Dragons
+ Jamie Lyon: Retired
+ Tim Moltzen: Retired
+ Jayden Hodges: Unsigned
+ Josh Starling: Unsigned

NSW CUP * next to those that might play first grade next season
01. Peter Schuster
* 02. Halauafa Lavaka
* 03. Matthew Wright
04. Tony Satini
* 05. Brad Parker
* 06. Isaac John
07. Nicholas Hynes
* 08. Willis Meehan
09. Hugh Pratt
* 10. Liam Knight
* 11. Blake Leary
12. Rhys Armstrong
13. Jamil Hopoate

* 14. Peta Godinet
* 15. Fabian Gooddall
16. Moses Noovao-McGreal
17. Dylan Kelly

We should have heaps of cap space given the cap going up, and quite a few large contracts coming off, and the only players of note now to be negotiated from here:

+ Godinet, Goodall, Green, Hynes, John, Kelly, Lavaka, Leary, Pratt, Sataini &Taufua (I underlined the more difficult contracts to negotiate).

Blake Green should not be required, and if we are after another 5/8, and a forward, we should be able to afford absolute blur chip players.

Good point @Woodsie, I've never thought about it like that. They've given TT, Gutho, Hiku, Wright, Hex, Brown, T-Red a shot there off the top of my head, but no Horhay. That pretty much proves that he is no hope of ever moving off the wing. I don't even rate him a chance of ever transitioning to the back row, which is another favourite call around here.
