Melbourne captain Cameron Smith will fight his grapple tackle charge at the NRL judiciary but teammate Jeremy Smith has pleaded guilty and will be free to play in next week's grand final if the Storm qualify.

Test hooker Cameron Smith faces a two-week ban for a grapple tackle on Brisbane's Sam Thaiday and must beat the charge at Wednesday night's hearing to play again this season.

Kiwi Test forward Jeremy Smith will miss Friday's preliminary final with Cronulla after entering an early guilty plea to a chicken wing tackle - also on Thaiday.

Jeremys was the minor infringement !!! If they take the guilty for that there should be no way the other grub gets off

The whole process is annoying though. With the games over on Saturday, the panel should have met Sunday, and had the hearing on Monday or even tonight if Monday isn't enough time to mount a defence

No doubt they'll pin the blame for Cam's actions on the other Smith.

Grrr why are we talking about this?..looks like Melbourne have found a way to dominate the headlines once again. Not bad for a team that a lucky to be alive.

Still, no-one in the media talks about Manly anyway  - I guess its a saving grace for them!.

Smith aggressively grappled Thaiday's head & neck area in 2 clear unnecessary prolonged movements in that tackle, and deserves to get suspended for 1-4 matches just like any player who did the same thing all year should get.

As for carryover points, they all know the rules that have been in place for the entire season, and should suck it up across the board.

Go Sea Eagles & Sharks this weekend!

Had it of been Matai doing that he would have got say 3-4 weeks no questions asked. I hope Cam gets at least 2-3 weeks scum bag.
