I don't watch a lot of NSW Cup but Hodges has thrown more nice passes and made more darts in 20 minutes than Ballin has all year.Surely he must be an option for 20 minutes in first grade to relieve Ballin given our total lack of flare at the moment.

But if you throw him on for 20 mins or so.....you change our STRUCTURE!!!!!!

The other thing that has happened to the game is so many serious injuries. The idiots have sped the game up but the collisions are harder due to the 10 meters and the interchange.110-120kg monsters playing in 10-15 minute stints coming on fresh and smashing the playmakers and backs who play for 80min. It's insane thinking to design a game where your highest price and most entertaining talent get's smashed and disadvantaged out of the game by robots who play less than half a game. Again moronic thinking from moronic NRL management.

Actually if Hodges doesn't play first grade next week then there is something seriously wrong with our coaching set up.Not sure what he needs to do.The Mounties are top of the ladder and our first grade side is a rabble and I assume they bought him to be a back up in any case.Give the kid a go.

Hodges was playing off the bench last year , wonder why this has changed?

Reckon that Mase would grow out his fro too, and we could have some personality Players entertaining us again.

Good post Moz and it's exactly the reason why people are turning off the NRL in droves. Robotic players doing robotic plays, over refereed, over coached and over commercialised crap. i'm loving watching the free flowing games here in NYC and NSW cup. 1 ref who's controlling the game without blowing the sht out of his whistle, no stupid video ref crap stifling the game. It's why watching English super league is more entertaining than NRL. Ever since that fuktard Greensnot got his fingers in the game it's been like pushing sht uphill with your nose. Let the game be what it is. Players with talent playing off the top of their head. Sticking players exclusively on the left edge or right edge is just bull****. Let the run all over the park and for godsake drop the interchange to 6 replacements only, go back to 1 ref, use video ref for try grounding ONLY,and get the game back to the simple, tough hard grind it should be, reliant on fatigue and natural skill. SACK GREENTURD NOW.

I forgot to add that @mickqld he also said they tell the Tigers to play NSW Cup footy. Meaning, throw it around and play to your strengths. If you're a noted defender, smash 'em like you do in the lower grades. If you're an off the cuff, speed demon, play what's in front of you, forget the set plays you've practiced all week.

Hodges needs to play a similar role to L'estrange back in 2007-08. Give Ballin a rest and provide a spark for the attack.

Toovey I think needs to demonstrate that he is flexible. He has been very loyal to this group and not made too many changes or dropped players only when injuries have forced him to. We are paying for a lack of depth in our reserve team because right now one or 2 of our glamour players need a spell down there to get their act together.

Toovey I think has to be bold and promote players who are in form and are enthusiastic. It has to change now, what was dished up yesterday MUST not be repeated. We have a really tough month coming up and its so important that even if we are not successful in any of these games we see potential and spirit in each performance.

Our first half yesterday was 5 hitups and kick. It was hideous to watch. No enterprising play, no off the cuff attack, it was awful robotic crap. Our halves didn't want to be involved in anything. 2nd half was better for about 15 min but only after the million dollar babies knew we were dead. We need to go right back to junior league basics. Just play off the natural talent, no structures, no set plays, cut the bullsht decoy runner plays and just play football. Run hard if you're a forward and chuck it around from the backline. Chip kicks, darting runs. Unfortunately we have too many ego driven fat heads to play like that.

Yes they should have as there was still plenty of time to come back down and have a go maybe they thought they wouldn't catch the kick off but all in all they had a go and only just got beat

Really nice to see the lower grades on TV, especially the 20s, who defended their line really well - and defence of any kind is almost unheard of in the 20s. Agree that our first graders should be forced to watch the 20s as an example of commitment to each other and the team.
Demetriou was a real standout but I wonder if his height (or lack thereof) will go against him. I guess if he can skittle defenders in first grade like he does in the 20s it won't matter.
Reserve graders weren't as good to watch but Hodges looked good, as did Vave. Surely it wouldn't hurt to give a guy that big a run as an impact forward. And Hodges handled first grade well enough last year to given another try. We're definitely at the stage where we don't have anything to lose.
