RE: NRL 2012 TAB Sportsbet odds - Winner

They market themselves to the "meat and drink" punter who is too lazy to shop around and get 5-10% better value for the same thing. They swallow up the the same people who always take mortgages with big 4 banks, or buy petrol at the same petrol stations regardless of price.

Its almost an insult to Tigers fans that the TAB are banking that your average Joe Sixpack punter is gonna take $6 at his local TAB just through ignorance/laziness.
That's some pretty generalized stereotypes you have got going there mate.
I understand the grog part, but the meat?...does a good t-bone make you lazy?, would a vegetarian punter be more pro-active in the market place?

Do you guys prefer tab sport over sporting bet?

Wasn't impressed with sporting bet's web & mobile site features, though I only had a quick look.

Also not impressed similarly by centrebet web interface.

Prefer TAB Sportbet (in NSW anyway) as, whilst thier web features also have some poor aspects, using your card in the many touch-screen machines in various pubs, clubs & TABs for account betting is extremely handy, dangerously so actually.

RE: NRL 2012 TAB Sportsbet odds - Winner

I have just seen a scrolling ad for Sportingbet that has us with a $9 divie. Centrebet this morning is $10. NSW SportsTab still has $13 for anyone interested in a pre-season bet before kick-off tonight.

I'm hoping to win a motza via my Footytab bets this weekend and if we do beat the Warriors then those premiership odds probably won't be seen again.

Good punting.

NRL 2012 TAB Sportsbet odds - Winner

There must have been some serious money placed on the Sea-Eagles recently. I put some money on them just twelve days ago when they were at $7.50. I read in the paper today they're now equal fav's with one bookie at $3.75. A lot of people must be liking what they see from the boys at the moment.

12 days ago was after we had gotten ourselves out of jail against the Warriors and weren't looking very impressive.

Since then we have beaten the team we were fighting for 4th place with, at their home ground, and easily beaten the team running 2nd on the ladder, allowing only 2 tries since then, both from kicks.

If we were still paying $7.50, I'd be having my 1st bet in well over 2 years and having a stack on us. We've shortened purely because of our from in the past 2 games.

RE: NRL 2012 TAB Sportsbet odds - Winner

The odds have shortened because the bookies have brought them in, not because a lot of money has been put on.

They generally reframe the market every week post each game.

RE: NRL 2012 TAB Sportsbet odds - Winner

Just got on us at $12 (for 2013 not 2012 ;))
I can't believe that the Knights are at $10 and we are at $12 after we towelled them 32 blot.
Please explain.

Oops, thought I updated this post.
Now done in post #1.

I got on Manly 2013 Premiership Winner @13 during the 1st week in March.

Go Manly!

We are probably at those odds because of the unknown ASADA possibilities. If it wasn't for that we should be around 7's. So far Storm deserve to be favorites. I already have a bet on so hopefully it will be all good this year.

We should make this thread into a betting thread / futures market thread. Be interesting to see what people bet on.

The Rabbitohs' horse has been flogged too early and is stuggling as it nears the back end of the race.
The Roosters & Storm have peaked too often too early and will see many mistakes creep into thier gameplay.
The Bulldogs & Sharks are too inconsistent and lacking firepower to mix it with the big boys.
The Knights & Titans are half-empty shells with occasional great performances amidst lots of failures.
The Raiders are showing too many signs of weakness but can fluke a string of good wins to become a threat.
The Warriors leak too many points and will struggle to win good, hard 80-minute games.
It's just FANTASTIC to be a passionate Rugby League fan in this era where the end of the Broncos' domination is at hand - hopefully they keep losing and settling in down the bottom of this and many year's NRL ladders to come.
The Sea Eagles are building well with great potential into the finals with a good claim at the Grand Final and another glorious premiership.

---

Naa, come finals any team facing the Roosters, Rabbits or Storm will have it real tough - those three have proven themselves well on the field the past couple of months.
The Dogs, Sharks, Knights & Raiders can all build into serious deep-finals contenders but honestly look to be a step down in class.

Manly will have to continue to improve little by little, have a bit of luck and bounces of the ball come thier way for a good run into the latter finals stages.. Hopefully they do!

A big several weeks in Rugby League ahead!

Go Manly.

With only 1 round to go in this year's Home v Away season there's still a good range of possibilities for the Finals weeks 1 & 2 match-ups..

Oh, and the Eels didn't quite make the winning margin they wanted over the Dragons last night to lose their vice grip on another Wooden Spoon.

The Sportsbet top 8 @ mid Jan have turned out to be the top 8 @ the end of the Home v Away season after round 26.

Will update this list every now and then.

Game Day!

NRL Finals Wk2 is upon us, with good weather forecast for Sydney today (top of 23 mostly sunny), and not so good for Melbourne tomorrow (top of 21 few showers developing & chance of thunderstorms during evening).

Manly Warringah have all other finals teams right where we want 'em:
- The Knights will take the Storm out this week which will be fantastic to see, then thier bubble will burst in Wk3 as the Roosters show them how it's done.
- The Sharks' unreliable form will haunt them tonight when they lose to the Sea Eagles rebounding from a mistake-riddled loss last week.
- The Rabbitohs & Roosters squads will be kickin' back this week with no games to play, sinkin' schooners at various pubs, pumpin' fippos through the pokies, lazing around at the beach with little care for thier next games.
- $BW will still be too good for his opponents in Wk3 @ the SFS on the Sat night, but he'll choke in the GF.
- The Rabbitohs will finally be turned to stew by the Sea Eagles @ Stadium Australia on the Fri night, as the Bunnies will be expecting either: Sharks who need 7 tackles to score, or Manly who just can't score.. They're in for a shock.
- Then in the Grand Final the Roosters' horse will fade, having been flogged too early, whilst the mighty Sea Eagles will come home strongly for the 2013 championship cup!

Naa, all remaining teams have a good shot, especially the Rabbits & Roosters - both deserved favourites with this very helpful week off, it'll be very tough for any other teams to prevent that Grand Final match-up.

The smart tips this week are Manly & Storm, but both thier opponents will turn up and pull out some surprising good plays I reckon.
There could be some pretty wild momentum swings and interesting bounces of the ball as the kicks in play will be a fair part of both games, Manly & the Storm both need to turn it on well and not underestimate who they are facing.

Should be some great footy, surely much better-officiated than in other recent games!
Would love to be there again for the Manly game this week (was grat atmosphere @ SFS last Sat night!), but simply cannot on this Fri night.

Go Sea Eagles & Knights this week!
