The famous 7th tackle try, how could you forget it!!

Funny story, that was scored by Matthew Ryan who happened to be a Moree boy who I knew really well.

He retired from the NRL a few years later and came back to play for the Moree Boars for 2-3 years, and I said to him at the footy once "did you know it was a 7th tackle", he said "sure, I looked up, your guys had given up and Eddie was waving for the last so I just dived over, but I knew I got lucky, very lucky".

It wasn't just that try. The forward passes , the offside and thuggery from Lamb. It was as obvious as 2013 that Ward was on the Dogs.

So we've won 8 grand finals from the 18 we have been in. It's a bit of a sad stat really. Lots of hurt.

Not good at converting GF appearances to premierships. Perhaps this might call for an investigation?

That's the problem with the retro round....makes you realize just how damn old you are when you're watching old footage, thinking that wasn't 20-30 years ago....surely! Bugger me.

To be fair a chunk of those were against rampaging souffs or Saints teams during their ancient golden eras under unlimited tackle rules that Saints made work for themselves. We were in a GF only 4 years after we joined the comp so that's a fair effort. Add 95 forward pass 7 tackle try and the 2013 rip off and it's not too bad considering some clubs had 40 years start.
