no surprise BE unfortunately :-[ By far a 2nd rate ground, terrible corporate access compared to others, an anti-council push by the Greens, very few Friday night games, not a lot of positives for big dollars.

Now that leaves just us without a major sponsor :(
If companies want to major sponsor an NRL team this year, there's just one choice!

Excellent!!  Now we are in a position of power.  Well done Lowie, you've played the game to perfection.  We were never going to take just any major sponsor that walked in the door, and now we can be even choosier.  Any company that wants to become our major sponsor now better table a pretty good proposal.
You the man Lowie!!

I can see prospective sponsors now, hmm, what about NRL, who can we get?

Souths-gone, Broncos-Gone, Parra- gone, well who can we get, Oh, Manly hasn't anyone still 30 days out. Gee, what's wrong with that team?

Sums up our club at present. No-one seems to be doing anything. Website is a great example, great to see we still have Perry, (thought he went to England) should go great with King  ::)

On a different tangent, I wonder if the Storm/Crown have anyone doing PR for them. Surely with the whole Tandy issue going on they should have waited a few days.

Lets face it, in melbourne the papers will only write one story about RL, instead of being about a new sponsor now I would bet it is about both gambling issues and the deal. Very silly move.

Totally disagree. Perfect timing. It shows that whilst some people do the wrong thing, there can still be commercial enterprise with good intentions going forward.

I'm very surprised their product is as saleable as it is. Their CEO must be a good salesman.

And Darren, I've given up on all the back office stuff all together mate. What will be, will be. I'm just going to watch the footy now, and just not care as much. The best method for dealing with all (and I know you have more concerns about the team than I mate), is as Eagles fans, lowering one's expectations makes for a much happier camper.

If you just believe they will bungle their way through, you won't get disappointed.

All I know, is that I'm stinging to see the lads on the park again (whoever they may be???)....

very true Ryan, just I hate to see us being like this after the 2008 blitz. I thought then we were going to take off, not end up like this. The funny thing is that we aren't hated much anymore, my friends don't even seemed to care less about manly anymore, they're hating Roosters, Souths etc. We are sort of becoming like the Sharks, totally irrelevant.

Not on the field.....we're playing finals.....they are playing for the spoon. Thankfully, Crusher and that know what they are doing.

Sop bagging Lowe, I hear he has a NZ bakery/shop wanting to sponsor us. Negotiations will continue after he finished his free pasty.

Roosters re-sign Frank Paul and Martin Kennedy, add Hargreaves and Lama Tasi, Ryan, someone from the Roosters know what they are doing ::)

Did you see any positive news on this in the papers? An announcement is meant to generate free media and attention in the build up to a new season. I disagree with you fundamentally. The take away message was not that some people can be trusted to do the right thing at all. The average joe seeing this in the paper in melbourne connected with the Tandy case would look and think that something suss was happening.

I don't have a problem with the sponsor, far from it - I just think that it was very poor PR timing, they wasted an opportunity to get free positive media and instead game every hostile media organization in the city another free chance to connect them with cheating. A connection that I would imagine would not be hard to make for most melbournites. For a team with a PR problem this was poor timing, perhaps a little unavoidable as the season is not far off, but still poor.

Just trying to look at the bright side mate. Have to admit, I would have liked a few that have fled the coop to remain. I appreciate what your saying, so please don't get me wrong.

Things could be done much better.

While I'm in no way giving any sort of support,or get out,for the purple filth,I thought Tandy was playing for the bulldungs when the incident happened!I hope the purple filth have a short painful death from the NRL,but if Tandy wasn't with them when this happened, why is it their problem?

I am not saying it is. I am saying it is bad PR to announce a sponsorship deal with a gambling company (Such as a casino) the day after news about a player potentially fixing matches hits the papers. The next day all the articles in all the news papers would link the two. Not the kind of coverage you are looking for if everyone already thinks your team are cheats.

Tandy is the bulldogs problem, but dealing with an announcement like this the day after it all hit the news was just poor PR. I would have waited a couple of weeks and at least seen if we could get it in the news on its own merits.
