    ... and from the Tele:

    Josh Massoud November 14, 2009

MANLY skipper Matt Orford reported for 2010 orientation at Sea Eagles HQ yesterday despite no longer being tied to the club.

Manly's board woes and absence of a CEO since June have dragged Orford's contract renewal into uncharted territory, with two Superleague clubs poised to strike if a deal can't be finalised.

Bradford are in the market for Orford, who is keen to ink a two-year extension at Brookvale. But manager George Mimis said yesterday interest overseas would be entertained  as long as Orford's  Manly deal remains unsigned.

"While we  haven't signed off on a deal, there's  a risk he could play elsewhere,'' Mimis said. "But Matt's preference has always been to stay at Manly.''

Sea Eagles wingers David Williams and Michael Robertson are also unsigned. The delay is related to a review of the club's salary cap.

Just piss Matt Orford off, give Trent Hodgkinson a shot - salary cap review - no problem.

Just go Ox. Manly can start its rebuilding phase with:-

    Foran
    Hodgkinson

Trent Hodgkinson is a NSW and Australian junior representative 1/2 back, who took his inaugural Sunshine Coast team to a Grand Final victory, in which he was the highest point scorer, and leader.

What else does the club want? Sign Hodgkinson to a 3 year, stepped deal $50k year one, $75k year two, $100k year three (with an option of renegotiation after two years should he come really good).

We then have 10% of our cap back.

Orford has now cost us Burgess, as the article alludes to. Lets not lose any more players over him (remembering Neumann had to be released to make the offer to Ox).

Use the extra money to stitch up Foran long term, or target Mitchell Pearce should he attain a release.

The years have been wonderful Matt. You were one of my favorite players. Good luck in the ol' dart mate.
