Does the Eagle Rockers site still exist?

As Dan will attest it is a lot of work to keep a website like this going.  I'd say the Rockers site served a purpose of networking for their group, which is now something more easily achieved on Facebook etc.  I think that core group still exist.  Not a bad thing to have a shared passion to collect a social network around like they do.

membership numbers are pathetic. our membership is cheaper than the bunnies, and they are subsided by Crow, the biggest leagues club and the ANZ stadia.

Come on, pay the money, sign up.

Thank you all for your repsonses.

I was not looking for anything too heated - i was simply making a few points, perhaps a little bluntly.

I agree with a number of points made:

1. I do stand and cheer for the Eagles, and as such, i SHOULD pay for that privilege.  I have previously considered the purchasing of my ticket at the ground, and my $110/month on foxtel to be "Paying for the privelege" - but opint taken, there is a further intangible benefitwhich can be obtained.

2. The revenue generated through such initiatives is vital to the club, but extremely small i comparison to a major sponsor, or a sleeve sponsor.

3. Advertising HAS been done by the mighty Eagles.  Happy to admit that i am wrong here.

4. More people through the gates means even more $$$.  SOmeone suggested raising the average crowd by 1,000...... this would make even MORE money for the club (food sales, sponsorship exposure, and increased likelihood of televised free to air games etc....)

Lots of passion here - this is why this is the ONLY Eagles site i visit.

By the way I am one of a few on here that post of both MWSE and here, I don't agree that this is the "only" site, although I agree it is the only totally free site. To post on MWSE you have to be a member (which you should anyway).

It's always been my opinion that there's room for everyone, this site allows for more "freedom of speach" than the club site, but it doesn't mean that the club site isn't worth being at (or on) as well.

There's some fantastic stuff over at MWSE, the Player Chats are a new concept and are great, you get to "talk" live with players, recently Choc and George Rose were on, that's just one advantage of the main site.

But there's certainly room for more and I agree Dan does (is doing) a fantastic job keeping this one going and so vibrant.

I post on the MWSE forum (Ant80) and slowly putting names to faces at games. This will become a lot easier with the NZ trip (not long to go now). I'm hoping by season kick off the club can announce that we have overtaken last season's membership numbers of 3023.

Then hopefully next season we can set an attainable goal of 5000 members.

I don't think anyone sees silvertails as the "only" site.  I occasionally post on MWSE and think it's a good thing for the Rockers site to be operational still.  I guess I put most of my strokes over here because I've been here from Day One (helping (or hindering?) Dan and want to put my effort into that.

You can hmmm all that you like Volley.

There is a big difference between doing a bit of sh-it stirring and making racial comments.  Racial comments can get the poster (and possibly this site) in a bit of sh-it.  As I said at the time, I am not indigenous but I do have family who are part indigenous so the racial comments that were being made were getting a little too close to home for my liking so I requested people to tone it down (and take note that it was a request and at no time did I tell anyone).

Byso, I don't know whether or not you are just doing a bit of fishing to see if I will bite with your above reply but I will take it that you are only doing a bit of sh-it stirring.  If you were referring to Volley making racial comments well he didn't and I wasn't saying that he had. The racial comments were in the "Indigenous ALL STARS v NRL ALL STARS" thread.

On a more positive note....You may be interested to know that The Manly Warringahs Travelling Supportahs group with help from the club have tipped in to take Aaron (Sea Eagles Membership manager and web master who is moving on from the club), His wife and 2 kids over to NZ or the Warriors game at Easter.

A great way to thank him for his efforts and as invariably over many years his family have had to come second due to his work duties at games home and away that he can relax with his family at the game and enjoy it with them and the group that are travelling (there are over 50 now).

Great initiative and especially heart warming to see the cameraderie that is part of the MWTS.

Well done and thanks to everyone that supported us on getting this together
