BENJI MARSHALL, Feleti Mateo and the best Kiwi and Polynesian players could soon get a chance to experience a State of Origin style contest.

They should play it on the same weekend as Origin, and give every club the whole week off. Use it, Origin and a Toyota Cup version of each game to get the TV audience and give every club the bye.

I was a bit worried that Pacific Island teams might get player's taken from them by both Australia and New Zealand but this idea might be the way to go

I like the idea, I'd love to see the emerging nations get a shot at playing some more football to help make it league more of an international game.
The only downside I see is that many of the Pacific Islander players may not want to play for them as it locks them out of Australia/New Zealand selection. I doubt a guy like Hayne, for example, would play for the Islander team if it meant he can't play tests for Australia even though he previously played for Fiji.
