With the Sea Eagles NRL and Premier League teams having the bye this upcoming weekend it is an opportune time to bring fans up with the latest news.
The following news items may be of interest:

1 - The generous gesture from major shareholder and major sponsor Max Delmege to sponsor the club until the end of the 2008 season.Max had originally planned to make the announcement last week but put it off to allow the drama surrounding John Hopoate to
abate.Manly fans should let Max know how they feel about his unbelievable support of our club.

2 - Congratulations to Chad Randall and his partner Jacquie on the birth of baby Tahyna Monique Randall at Manly Hospital last night at 11.58 p.m. Baby and mum are both well.Proud grandparents Debbie and Terry are over the moon.

3 - Manly trained well during a tough session at Narrabeen today with the following update on injured players:

Jason King - Ran well but will have his sternum tested in oppose session on Monday.Won't be risked against St.George Illawarra if there are any signs that he may need another week off.

Ashley Alberts - Coming on well but still at least a month away from playing first match for club following off season shoulder reconstruction.

Chris Hicks - Looked good at training today.Big chance of coming back against Dragons.

Glenn Stewart - Got through today's session fine.Likely to come back against Dragons with broken thumb now no problem.

Jye Mullane - Yet to get all clear from doctors on comeback date from knee operations.

Terry Hill - Looked fresh in sprint training today and likely to be available for Dragons game.

4 - Just for the record.Manly have won eight of the club's last 11 premiership matches including six in succession at home.In the last two weeks all three grades have won at home.

5 - The rendition of the team song after the win over the Storm almost took the roof off the dressing room at Brookie.Veteran club stalwart and Premier League manager Warwick Bulmer tradiotnally leads the club song after home wins. The players were joined by owner Max Delmege and the Board.

6 - The crowd at Manly Leagues Club for the after match awards was unbelievable and the club is now looking at taking similar functions back to the auditorium where more fans can gather in comfort.

7 - The family hill at Brookvale is proving a big winner with a big crowd in the area on Sunday for the Storm game.Face painting, free balloons, a kiddy pet farm, jumping castle and organised games are proving very popular.Great to see club legends Owen Cunningham and Craig Hancock and their families in this area with their youngsters decked out in maroon and white.

8 - The players want to thank the fans for their support at Brookvale.New buys Michael Witt,Ben Kennedy and Brent Kite rate the atmosphere and the fans at Brookvale as "special".Kennedy said while Newcastle was a cauldron the atmosphere at Brookvale was similar. Both Witt and Kite echoed the thoughts of BK.

9 - John Hopoate was with the Sea eagles in warm up,half time and full time areas on Sunday.Coach Des Hasler and club management AND the players want Hoppa around the place as much as possible. Some e mails criticising the club for supporting Hopoate in his hour of need have been received and answered by the club. The club reinterates its support of Hoppa as a decent person.

10 - The players will have a hard session tomorrow (Thursday) and then be given Friday,Saturday and Sunday off during the bye weekend.

11 - The good news continues with the Sea Eagles being granted the Friday night match against Brisbane in round 8 at Suncorp Stadium - the first free to air Friday night game since 1998.

Enjoy the break this weekend knowing your team will be leading the premiership after four rounds no matter what.Certainly no time to rest on our laurels but at least we caan all take a long deep breath and then get back into the action next weekend when we play an always dangerous Dragons at WIN Stadium in Wollongong.

12 - And finally...what about our coach.Last year Des said Manly would come good at the end of the season when the 22 new players brought to the club started to gell.He was right. But the effort in the off season, the fitness of the team, the tactics and the much improved defence has Manly being talked about in the right places again.Well done to our coach who will carry on the tradition of great coaches produced by Manly. He has a great support team in Dennis Moore,Noel Cleal,Steve Roach and Geoff Toovey. How good is Tooves - after coaching the Premier League side he dons the yellow shirt and acts as a runner for the NRL side.Great team spirit abounds.Have a good short break.

Dissapointed about the emails to the club for supporting Hoppa.

He copped one of the harshes punishments ever dealt, there are other players still playing the game after similar incedents.

He deserves some support to get him back on his feet, and if the players and coach think he helps then go for it.

People are confusing and idiot footballer from a good guy. Im sure hoppa still has a bit too offer us and he was having a very good season, ruined by one accident. The view of the dressing sheds on FOX had hoppa talking to all the boys before the game, it didn't do any damage. He still needs a job to support his family.

We're better off without Hoppa. You don't take chances with malignant cancers.

I'm talking about a club context. I'm sure he's a nice bloke but I'm staggered as to why they keep pushing him to the forefront and talking about him.

Leave him be and let him fade away.

Interesting to see Alberts still has at least 5 more weeks to be ready.

Jye mulane too. Does knee surgury really take that long to heal? Ian Roberts had something like 26 of the buggers (knee recons) and managed to play almost every game (LOL). Will be good to have hicks back too. Against the side showing the least attacking spark this season, a good ease into match tackling again.

Matabele whether you like it or not many supporters and club admin have the utmost respect for Hoppa as a person and never say die attitude.

I honestly think he should have a place. Max loves him and that's good enough for me.

Hoppa's behaviour on-field was the issue. Noone has ever had a problem with what happened off the field.

I suppose some are worried about mixed messages. The club has made its call - move on!
