MANLY SELECTION SHOCK
Written by THE MOLE, March 13, 2015
MANLY coach Geoff Toovey is set to spring a major surprise by naming back-rower Feleti Mateo at five-eighth for tomorrow night’s crunch game against Melbourne.

Mateo was named on Tuesday in the back row – where he has played most of his football in recent years, after starting his NRL career at five-eighth for Parramatta in 2004.

Toovey named specialist five-eighth Jack Littlejohn to replace the injured Kieran Foran, who will miss up to a month with a hamstring injury.

But a Manly source tells RLW that Littlejohn is set to play in the NSW Cup, with Mateo thrown into the five-eighth hot seat.

After a bad loss to Parramatta in round one and having lost both Daly Cherry-Evans and Foran to rival clubs in the past 10 days, the Sea Eagles are under immense pressure to win in their first game at home for 2015.
===================================
I'm excited by this as Mateo has the most beautiful passing game.
If the recent events don't fire up the wannabe FG regulars, nothing will @

He certainly didn't look fit 2 me last week. Looked like he was carrying a few 2 many kilos.
Didn't he play 80 minutes? Probably had to sneak 40 minutes of camping out wide to get through it.

I saw him down at Narrabeen shops in the offseason. He's a big unit, but looked soft around the guts. Like you're a pro footballer - how hard can it be to stay in shape..?

That's the thing I'm not sure what's happening at our training at the moment. Gifty (love him) but he certainly looks fitter at souths and mateo I thought the club would flog him over the off season as he is known 2 be lazy yet he looks soft 2 me.

He will be right by this week after all Kieran Foran said the trainings were too intense!!!!

I'd rather bring Turbo Tom in to play FB and move Snake to 5/8......and I've never been an advocate of moving Snake from the back.

Better yet, play Killer at 5/8, Blair to the centres and Tom onto the wing.

Edit: If JamieB is coming back into the side I'd rather drop Mateo to the bench and move Lui into the second row.

Of his 184 first grade games, Mateo has played 25 at pivot. The last time he played there (or at least started there) was for the Warriors in a 42-22 loss to Canberra at Mt Smart in Round 26 of 2012. Baloney started that game on the bench but came on at some point because he kicked a goal so when he came on either Mateo came off or moved to the back row

I think he's like T-Rex. Very tempremental, very much a confidence player. Can hit form and be amazing or get in a funk and you wouldn't know he was out there for months at a time.

Littlejohn got injured and would be found out, at least the potato is a big body, hope to see Buhrer back with Horo off the bench

IMHO it's a good move, (lets give him a chance) also Jake T will make the bench
Go The Eagles:clap:@:)
