Don't lie on the tackled player - Manly gives away too many dumb penalties and the Ref's never miss us for some reason
Very true HM - the art of the wrestle is brained into the younger crop of forwards coming into the game - using the peel to better effect than Manly apart from Jake who is from the new breed - the Seaeagles give away many sillies on the 4th & 5th tackles....though it seems 1 eyed Eagle like - I often scream at the TV with raised fist when I see the opposition get away with similar & also a short 10m...mongrels!! :swear:

A wager South Sydney star Glenn Stewart placed on credit has resulted in criminal charges being laid against a former TAB operator.

Murray Taylor, a 52-year-old Fairlight resident, has been charged with "accept money on totalizator in a prohibited way" after allowing Stewart to bet without handing over any money. It is understood the wager, which was placed at the Forestville TAB outlet on the afternoon of January 26, was for a sum of between $5000 and $8000. Fairfax Media has been told that Stewart later repaid the outstanding monies but not in time to prevent Taylor having his licence terminated.

The case against Murray, for an offence known in gambling circles as "betting on the nod", was mentioned in Manly Local Court on Wednesday. The matter has been adjourned until August 5 and a plea has not yet been entered. According to the charge sheet, Murray "did accept a bet on totalizer without payment being made at or before the time the bet was made". The offence carries with it a $2200 fine but it is understood prosecutors may seek to lay a heftier charge, one that could result in jail time.

The NRL's integrity unit was made aware of the matter after being contacted by Tabcorp. The governing body will not take any action after it was satisfied Stewart did not bet on league matches.

"We are advised by the betting agency concerned they have no record of the player gambling on rugby league," an NRL spokesperson said.

Souths said they were aware of the situation in a statement that continued: "The club and player can confirm that Glenn was not betting on rugby league. He has not breached his NRL contract, nor his code of conduct."

Tabcorp confirmed the operator's license had been terminated following the incident.

"Tabcorp takes matter of integrity very seriously and we have zero tolerance for these types of activities. We have strict rules in place and as such the agent had their agency agreement terminated," said a Tabcorp spokesman.

Stewart wasn't named to face former team Manly on Friday night but is attempting to return from a thumb injury. It would be a sooner-than-expected return after undergoing surgery in April and the former representative backrower has trained with the team this week. The 31-year-old was one of the Sea Eagles' favourite sons but was squeezed out due to salary cap pressures in a move which has split the club.

Can someone tell Feleiti Mateo this. He cops us a usual 3 penalties each match.
He couldn't be dumber than Choc but I'm afraid he's in the same category!
