Sadly i don't think the board had much option.

The telecrap would've had us in a 2 page spread everyday until 2013 stirring up their usual crap.

As much as i would have made him stay (and not given the dogs what they wanted), i could see how we needed to move forward.

wrong, Breach of contract means they do not have to pay him out

what do you expect them to do with the info they recieved tonite apparently that he was trying to get players to break contracts

And getting coaching staff to leave as well! You only need to look at the quote by Lyon prior to the grand final to know Des had already decided he was going!

If Des is found guilty of trying to entice players to the scumdogs with still a year to run on his contract with manly,that's one of the most despicable acts imagineable. Coaching us and tearing us apart at the same time.

Maybe Des will fit in at the Dogs better than we all thought.

Dear oh dear oh dear..

Why don't you put the gun in his hand Manly board? Instead of explaining that it was their own stupid actions and tight arse negoation tactics that lead to Hasler being disgruntled in the first place, instead they are now trying to avoid paying him out by forcing him to resign.

If they sack him, they have to pay him out.
If they pay out his contract, they have to pay him out.
If Des resigns they don't have to pay him out.

Problem is, they've given the guy (who has no love loss for the club) the chance to let rip with both barrels if he wants.

Worst case scenario Manly sack him, big deal he's already leaving!

This single incident could really get ugly. If Des wanted to, he could potentially go straight to the media with every little dark secret, and every home truth that the Manly supporters are yet to hear because their board is all trying to save their jobs.

*shakes head*, this has played almost too well into Haslers hands, and how ugly it now gets squarely depends on how Hasler feels.

Yes, it is the boards fault for Des leaving, but trying to induce players and staff to break contract is what has made most fans filthy about him.

If Des just left, good on him, thanks for the memories, but to bring the club to it's knees is a disgrace.

DES Hasler has been stood down by the Sea Eagles tonight over alleged serious breaches to his contract.

Hasler had intended to coach Manly for the 2012 season, despite signing with the Canterbury Bulldogs from 2013.

But a succession of defections from Brookvale to Belmore prompted Manly officials to stand down Hasler for allegedly inducing players to break their contracts.

He will be given a breach notice and given a chance to defend himself before the Manly board.

The Daily Telegraph revealed this morning that the Manly board would meet today to discuss Hasler’s future at the club.

Board members were locked in tense negotiations for more than six hours discussing Hasler's future.

Since Hasler shocked the NRL by announcing his defection to the Bulldogs, Manly’s recruitment manager Noel Cleal and video analyst Will Badel have signed with Canterbury.

Another thing, there are always two sides to the story.

This is the "official" line from a board that is well documented to be on shaky ground and trying to save their own jobs.

Admit your own actions have damaged the club so people want your head, or blame the departing coach and make him out to be the bad guy.

Hmmmm..

That's right... there are 2 sides to every story. In this case there's the biased, pro bulldog, anti Manly, Des is the poor innocent victim, version that you've adopted..... Then there is the other side, that Des is as much at fault as the board and his actions are having an enormously negative effect on the club.

Or the departing coach who is yet to speak to the media.

This comment (and its only been made by Daily Telegraph not Manly), about poaching players, could very easily be paper BS. BTW we have not signed Will Badel *yet* so that comment IS BS.

If it did come from the board it could also be an excuse to make Hasler look bad.

This just goes from bad to worse. This is not the way to deal with this the players are going to mutiny over this. We are going to lose several players because of this. Manly has become the laughing stock of the NRL I feel so ill. This is the blackest day in our history including the N.E merger.

It would be difficult to prove if it's just a "he said, she said" type of argument.

They must have some proof for them to take this action.

Did one of the players fess up or was it the guy who came back to us?
