Scott penn with triple MMM todayhttp://www.triplem.com.au/sydney/sport/nrl/news/2016/6/manly-sea-eagles-backing-trent-barrett/

Manly chairman Scott Penn has issued his first warning to coach Trent Barrett, saying the club's current results will be unacceptable once their star players return.

The Sea Eagles have slumped to 14th on the NRL ladder with just four wins in their opening 13 games, however they have suffered continual injury issues with a number of players, including halfback Daly Cherry-Evans, captain Jamie Lyon and centre Steve Matai, who is out for the season.

And while Penn said he was backing Barrett given the current injury toll, he said things had to change once the team was back to full strength.

"Once we start to get some consistency with players on the field, if were not performing then, we'll have a different conversation," Penn told News Corp Australia.

"We can't lay all the blame on that but certainly that's a significant factor.

"We have had injuries in every key position. That makes it very difficult."

Barrett is midway through his first season of a three-year deal at the club, after the Sea Eagles opted to terminate the final year of former coach Geoff Toovey's contract.

The club also recruited a number of high-profile players including Dylan Walker, Apisai Koroisau, Darcy Lussick, Matt Parcell, Nate Myles, Martin Taupau and Lewis Brown, however to this stage the team are yet to fire.

Haha, that is just media fluff................!

Was Toovey offered the same grace for injuries, no he was not. So this is what you call double standards Mr Penn and so your credibility is cactus.

It makes it very, very hard to believe anything that he actually does say. He needs to understand this and stop the spin & just be honest and claw back his reputation, unless of course he does not care about that either.

The same People telling him they want to see results
And why did we Hire TB i seem to recall he wasn't our 1st choice
Was it reported they tried to get the great Dali
And there we had a Manly Junior experienced coach sitting on the hill watching his son play for Penrith

Just to add a bit of balance here Cleary has lost more games than he has won as a first grade coach. He had a very good roster at the Warriors and had Gould as a mentor at Penrith plus lower grades sides choc full of talent and killing it results wise; plus plenty of recruits. He was then unceremoniously sacked for a guy who couldn't get results with a Broncos side that made the GF soon after.

His results just do not match the hype and probably indicate what a tough job coaching is and why very few succeed.

When we win our next premiership we'll look back on the Barrett years and laugh.

About time. This Barrett experiment is and always was doomed from the very beginning. Everyone knew it. Manly have to do what every other club and business does and soon: get back to basics. First step on that journey is to install a coach who is an ex Manly man. If it's 2V or Hasler then do it. Let's understand what our basic criteria are define what is our culture and get back to our basic core values.

If.

If Barrett is still our coach at the end of next year.

He will then be our coach for the next decade.

There's only so much ball tampering one can put up with... He may have to buy a pair of mittens for tv interviews.
