I remember a long time ago when I played under 7's.

For those who played the game - what were the first things you were taught?

1 Run hard.

2 Tackle around the legs.

3 Play to the whistle.

4 Have fun.

I think number 3 applies here. If the ref's whislte isn't blown you don't stop. If the ref blows the whistle stop.

I would envisage Keiran had a coach when he first played. I would think he was taught similarly.

So based on this article why don't we track down his first year coach and hang him (or her) out to dry for giving wrong information? I speak sarcastically of course, but give it a break. Geez!

I think what's important to see in this is that 'getting away with' as much as you can in a footy game is not dishonest - it's gamesmanship and is practiced by every player to some degree. And none of them would admit to it in an interview.
