Was it the Roosters that put a ban on players getting ink done during the regular season a couple of years ago? One of the things I'm looking forward to this year is watching Josh Dugan as he continues his metamorphosis into a biro.

I have heard the Tattoo Parlours in Canberra have all gone broke since Dugan, Earl and Carney have all left ! Lol

Haha! Yeah, a couple of massage parlours and drive thru's are doing it tough too....so I'm told (cough) ;)

in over Parramatta and he was consulting a specialist late yesterday.

“At this stage he will be out for at least a month,” said Sea Eagles coach Geoff Toovey.

“We’ll know more after he has seen the specialist.”

The coach may head into the game with the Storm at Brookvale on Saturday week without his two star wingers.

David “Wolfman” Williams still has to prove his fitness after sustaining a badly bruised knee while playing in the Auckland Nines.

“We are hoping Wolfie will be OK, we still have to wait and see how he is going,” Toovey said.

He said that Williams was showing signs of improvement as he undergoes extensive rehab under the guidance of the club’s expert medical staff.

Peta Hiku and new recruit Cheyse Blair from Parramatta would be the leading candidates to come in on the end of the backline.

Backrower Tom Symonds is also out for about a month with a back injury while the fitness of experienced prop Jason King for the Melbourne game is still being monitored as he makes his comeback from a shoulder reconstruction last season.

But Toovey said that the injury list was not disrupting the squad’s preparation for the big season opener against the Storm at home.

RE: Jorge Taufua is out for at least a month

Thats a better prognosis than the six months

Looking forward to unearthing the next Manly star :)

Come back soon Jorge, good luck with the rehab.

Good opportunity for Hiku to get more and more game time. I really think he'll end up playing 15+ games this year through injury/origin etc.

I wish Wolfie all the best but with Hiku replacing him we lose nothing in defence but a bit in speed and finishing. With Jorge out I would not be surprised if Gutherson got a run on Wolfie's wing outside of Lyon like last year and Hiku oustide of Matai, and sometimes inside him.

I think Blair still needs to prove himself with a couple of games in NSW Cup as despite one try in the 9's, he hasn't done that much to impress me yet in the trials, to the level of Hiku and the versatility of Gutherson.

I know there are quite a few who have questions about Gutherson on this site, but 'I like the boy' and he does remind me a lot of Dugan with his running style. While not a top speedster, he seems just difficult to tackle, like Mullins was, and he has passing and kicking skills.

Don't get me wrong, I think Cheyse Blair will prove to be very good at Manly, but I am still worried about his defence, which has been a problem for a long time, but I have no questions about him in attack. I just think, at the moment, he has the potential to leak more points than he has the potential to score.

I think with no word of wolfie starting the season Hiku was always going to get a run. It will be a question of Blair/Gutherson for the other wing spot.

I agree, i would put Hiku outside stevie and have the new kid beside killer. Killer will do wonders for whoever is outside him, and organise them in defence. Matai has a habit of charging up in defence and i am more confident in Hikus ability to tackle then gutherson/Blair.

So does a month out for jorge mean he only misses 2 weeks (injury happened 2 weeks ago), or is it month of the actual season?

A lot will depend on how badly his shoulder ligaments were damaged, I did mine and was good after two weeks, but then again I didn't have to tackle anyone.

One area where our club seems to have a good reputation is with player rehab. Not that I'd really know, I suppose!

We worked wonders with George Rose. Silly doctors said he'd never run again. Pfft. I reckon we would have had Adam Ritson back on the field in 6 months. OK....maybe not, but we are bloody good in the rehab department.

Jorge Taufua will miss at least the opening two rounds of the NRL season with a shoulder injury suffered in Saturday’s trial against Parramatta.
The winger was taken from the field clutching his left shoulder after attempting to score his third try of the night.
Scans this morning revealed the extent of the damage, with the winger expected to return for the Sea Eagles in their round three clash against the Eels.

Hiku would be a certain choice for one side, the other.....I reckon they'll go with Blair, Gutherson seems a bit light IMO.....he may well grow into a bigger boy.

Either way expect Cronk & co to be raining bombs down that side

Hiku Is the best pick, They are still weighing up the possibility whether Jorge needs a full shoulder reconstruction, I think they will see how he goes.

I think they're looking at Blair in a more back row type role. From the looks of the 9's and especially the Parra trial, I'd go for Satini to get the 2nd wing spot if Wolfie is unavailable.
Gutho will be there long term but needs to work on his defence still. Maybe he'll get a shot at fullback, where his cover defence will take the attention away from his front line issues.
Hiku is obviously the first choice outside the established back 5.

Hang on....I was just skiting our medical blokes. How long does it take to diagnose the need for a shoulder reconstruction???

I see Blair as not a winger but Centre or Backrow at best, he hasn't got the quick step as a winger or quickness like a Hiku or the Wolfman and not sure of his defence at this stage.

They will probably see how he goes, strap him up, if he had to have a shoulder Reconstruction that would be the season for him. Just hope he doesn't hurt it again.

I think Taufua has played lazily since the finals, the GF and the Nines. He's lost his spark, speed and aggression. I hope Hiku plays like a demon and gives Toovey some head-aches.

01. Brett Stewart
02. Peta Hiku
03. Steve Matai
04. Jamie Lyon
05. David Williams

Very acceptable. Grab that spot Peta, then it's yours to lose. Make Taufua "work" for his way back on the team. Jorge seems to have a little hero attitude he needs to lose.
