IVAN Cleary is facing one of the greatest challenges of his coaching career if he is to lead the Warriors to a fairytale premiership in Sunday's grand final at ANZ Stadium after it emerged that he has a terrible record against Manly counterpart, Des Hasler.

'He had to leave.' No he didn't, he was simply disloyal. He wanted to play fullback and with the likelihood of Matthew Ridge returning from injury for the 1994 season, he took the money and ran to Norths. Only for Matt Seers to come along and push him out of his favourite fullback spot. Nice irony there.

Then he was interested in returning to Manly very late in his career, but his asking price was way over what the Club could pay and what he was really worth at that stage.

I would be very happy for Ivan's terrible record to continue on Sunday
