I don't think it is that unlikely.... Orford was on $600,000 a season,

$600,000 per season !!  Do you want to edit that post ?

It is possible for Melbourne to let go of their high priced players at a negotiated price and then themselves contribute to the difference.

I am hearing that Melbourne will still be paying approx $125k per season for Inglis. The Roosters still pay more than half of Mason's playing fee.

No, I don't. It was published in the telegraph that our OX was the most expensive player in the comp. We paid overs and in the end it was part of getting us a comp so I am not complaining.

I know 600k is a lot but I was firmly told that after 3rd party agreements and the like that's what he was getting.

Souths are going to try and sign Inglis now.
Crowe wants him bad and is going to try and talk him into playing for Souths.
Don't like his chances.

Orfords deal was heavily back ended for salary cap reasons, what you have to look at is the average for the 3 years he was with us, which I think was around $450k.

How the hell can they afford him? With all the garbage about Burgess's signing I'd be shocked if they could find the money to afford Inglis.

I dont know about the million, but I heard that it was 600k at the end which is the important figure, since that tells us how much we freed up when he left.

Did you enjoy the 2008 premiership 40 NIL - if so then he was worth it

In spite of or because of?

That is the question :)

Fire up, we haven't had an Orford bash for a while....

Oh God!

What have I done... trying to talk about Orford without opening up old wounds... never going to happen.

only a matter of time before we get the usual boring diatribe from DS.

i happened to be in the dressing room for 2 hours after 08 GF.Orford spent the time with both feet in a bucket of ice.I asked the doctor if the injury was serious.he said-"not really, one ankle is chronic this year, like this every week".the doc said there was no way he should have been playing at the end of that season.along with matai they didnt move off the chair.

the respect for him as captain was almost palpable.i remember choc on his haunches just hugging him on the chair for a minute.bk was in their also as a guest, same thing re orford.i see him a bit since.he rates the ox incredibly.

you can have your views of him as a player DS5,no problem with that.he had his faults no doubt.i rate him a very good player, not a great player and the time was right when he went.but to carry on like you do day in day out about him not contributing to our 07,08 seasons is garbage.he was captain of the greatest ever gf victory, had a fine game playing injured and most important of all every player in those sheds and Des had the greatest possible respect for him(as did a few daly M voters).i will cop that over what keyboard cowboys like you and i think every day.

so why dont you just cut us all a break and lay off.dont have to change your view.just dont keep reminding us of it every waking moment

Don't worry mate - the rules are as follows:-

1. If DSM5 suggests it's ok to criticise a player, or someone in management, then it's open season, because better than Crusher, better than ALL the judges of players talent in the NRL, DSM5 knows all.

2. If DSM5 disagrees with anyone ELSES criticism of a player or management, then your not a true supporter, your negative and your bashing, again, because better than Crusher, better than ALL the judges of players talent in the NRL, DSM5 knows all.

Basically, if you agree with him, your ok, if you don't agree with him, your a ****wit in his eyes.

He's a weird bit of gear.
