The cricket pitch in the middle of the ground that is like concrete in the dry and is a mudbath in the wet. No changing of jerseys at half-time on wet days in the mud so that the players are totally indistinuishable at the end of the game.

Going to North Sydney oval and given it to the Bears.

Cliffy.

Real refs. Dont mind the occassional human error.

The halfback must do the classic 'pass whilst falling' play, usually out of a scrum.
LMAO playing league in the 90's, all the kids in my team would throw passes like this, we used to call it the Toovey (who seemed to do it a lot). Never see it these days.

Bring back old fashioned scrums where you could push and win against the feed.  Scrum Half has to feed the ball in to the middle of the scrum and each and every forward comes off with cauliflower ears

Real hookers, bless them. Went in with one loose arm, scrapped his opposite down the shins, hit a second-rower in the face until blood spurted, then smacked a prop running on the way out, followed by an all-in.

2-3 settlers then a backline movement
no 40-20 or video ref, sand,no plastic blade or moulded stud boots
all must be screw ins, cotton jerseys with a single sponsor and those terrible leather balls that were like catching a heavy ball of soap in the rain,80 minute props with reserves and no interchanges oh and lets not forget the infinite tackle rule

Im bored just thinking of it

Commentators sitting on chairs on the side-line.
"It's long enough....
It's straight enough...
It's straight between the posts!"

Aah the good old days.

Games to be played Saturday arvo, and Rex Mossop MUST be the commentator.

where the lock wore NO.8 jersey and the hooker wore No. 12.   Where a player who had just played a full game in reserves could be brought on in the main game after an injury in the first couple of minutes.      Where the zambuk [ambulance man] would run on with his case which would serve as his seat on the sideline, and finally where a guard of modesty was formed by players of both teams when someone ripped their shorts and needed to change them on the field, those were the days.
