    . . . or sports-related songs.

    Eagle Rock is sensational . . . and I'm
trying to be objective. The Manly anthem.

    Also;

You'll never walk alone - Liverpool FC
    Come on aussie c'mon (cricket)
Aussie aussie aussie (oi oi oi)
Waltzing matilda (wallabies)- if we could sing like poms.

    Theme from Rocky
    We r the champions

    It's a long wat 2 the top
(if u want to rock n roll)

    for starters.

Survivor's-Eye of the Tiger, gets a flogging at sporting events. Also, US college football bands give The White Stripes, 7 Nation Army, a workout too.
Staying with College football, in '94 the Nebraska Corn huskers used the Alan Parsons project, Sirius, to run onto the field, they call it,
    "Tunnel Walk" & still do.
Sirius has been used by many over the years, most notably, the Chicago Bulls.

It's not really a song but I used to like the Crocker's a Wanker call.
Fanfare For The Common Man by Emerson Lake and Palmer is good too.

The right song/anthem while watching a sporting highlights package is gold. Rocky and Eagle Rock are definitely favourites.

I also loved in 2011 there was a song out called 'Grand Final Day' they played it on the Roast. It was a ripper.

YNWA Liverpool fc has to be the one that's a hair raiser, being a Liverpool supporter it brings me to tears all the time.

'Ive Got To Go Now' by Toni Childs should be played at souffs home games as their 'anfem'.

I've always wanted our Eagles to have this song as they run out. I used to get goose bumps thinking of Beaver running on the field to this. A little 1990's though, but it's awesome.

It's Eagle Fly Free by Helloween. Most of you would be far too young to remember this type of music.

Helloween – Eagle Fly Free Lyrics
    People are in big confusion
    They don't like their constitutions
    Everyday they draw conclusions
And they're still prepared for war
    Some can say what's ineffective
    Some make up themselves attractive
Build up things they call protective
Well your life seems quite bizarre
    Bridge:
In the sky a mighty eagle
    Doesn't care 'bout what's illegal
On its wings the rainbow's light
    It's flying to eternity
    Chorus:
    Eagle fly free
    Let people see
Just make it your own way
    Leave time behind
    Follow the sign
    Together we'll fly someday
    Hey, we think so supersonic
And we make our bombs atomic
    Or the better quite neutronic
But the poor don't see a dime
    Nowadays the air's polluted
    Ancient people persecuted
    That's what mankind contributed
    To create a better time
    Bridge:
In the sky a mighty eagle
    Doesn't care 'bout what's illegal
On its wings the rainbow's light
    It's flying to eternity
    Chorus:
    Eagle fly free
    Let people see
Just make it your own way
    Leave time behind
    Follow the sign
    Together we'll fly someday

Around 1997 to 2000 I think, seven's AFL coverage ended with "The thing about football," written by Greg Champion.

It's a great, positive, real aussie footy song.

I always thought the West Ham fans song would suit the Sharks supporters in their quest for a GF trophy.

    I'm forever blowing bubbles,
    pretty bubbles in the air,
they fly so high, nearly reach the sky
then like my dreams they fade and die.
    Fortunes always hiding,
    I've looked everywhere,
    I'm forever blowing bubbles,
    pretty bubbles in the air!

You can say what you like about Poms, but geez they can create an atmosphere!

Something about the old time Manly Warringah Manly Warringah song with the Watzing Matilda tune that still says 'the football anfem' to me. Who cares if we no longer march to the cricket ground or if it is out of fashion. It sounds like a football club anthem, says Manly Warringah and not just manly what is not to love. Wish we kept to tradition like the AFL keep to tradition with club songs, and hell what catchy numbers do we have in league recently ? All the words in the queensland number yippi ie ie yippi yippi ey ha ha.

Agree, CIG, I like how the AFL instill that tradition with their club songs.
BTW, I thought you meant all the words to the
    "Queenslander" chant.
How does that one go again? :)

There is Pat Benetars "hit me your best shot" and "all fired up". You cannot go past "simply the best". That is by far the best. A few Metallica and Motley Crue were good in the old days.

I recall Mark Geyer saying his pre game motivational music was Pat Benetar's stuff.

In game 2 of Origin '91, he must've played it backwards.

    We are the Manly boys,
    We had a win today,
We are the boys you know of
We showed them how to play,
    No matter where we'll be
    Maroon and White you'll see,
Oh aren't we a wonderful credit
    To our locality,
    So cheer boys cheer,
    We are together,
Every now and then we have a win.....have a win
We will play them all around
At our home or any ground,
If they'll always play a fair and honest game
    So it's guzzle guzzle guzzle
As we pour it down our muzzle,
And sing out the order loud and clear, 'more beer',
And we will drink all night
    Until we are very tired
In the shade of the Manly Leagues Club.
