That spiral pass was great - great instinct by Snake in those couple of seconds.

I agree with mickqld - he's a fullback and I don't believe would be able to fire or succeed @ 5/8th.
It's so good to see him on the park again, especially when he reads good opportunities and comes up into the line as a real threat.

We haven't had a fullback for the last two years, we finally get one of the best in the game back and there's discussion of a move? Seriously?
Even without his great defence, speed, ability to inject, and safety under the high ball; his direction of the play from the back is priceless.

Brett has to stay at the back for us to be even a chance, at some stages on sat night it looked like he tried to do to much, and I don't think that's his game.

I think Brett would make a good fist of 5/8 but in todays game I think fullback is a more potent position than 5/8 and I think we would be losing more than we were gaining ( unless Hoppa was killing it as fullback or something ).

Its centres that worry me the most - such a specialist position key to formation in attack and defence and most games since 2008 we go in with either Matai or Lyon out.  How much centre did Chris Bailey or Tony Williams play the last 2 years... far too much is the answer.  Without centres you can never be confident of winning games in my opinion.

With Jamie getting older and Matai still yet to have his 2011 brain explosion yet its not good to think about for 2011.

How many tries has Brett scored in the fullback position and why would you even think of moving him?

Here's an idea, why don't we wait and see how our current halves go over the next 5 games, presuming Foran is picked at no6.

Simple example

Darren Lockyer

Moving to 5/8 has certainly extended his career. He was a world class fullback and is now a world class 5/8 Stewart could probably make that move too

Every 5/8 will struggle if the forwards are not laying the platform. Its a universal truth of football any 5/8 will agree.  I think the fullback is used by successful clubs as a 2nd 5/8 when the opportunity arises and if you move Brett from fullback we would loose this weapon.  Hoppa Jr will be a good fullback but at full strength he would not be in the 17 in reality. If the forwards are going forward then you don't need the worlds best 1/2 and two 5/8s.

i dont necessarily think it would be a good idea.just throwing it up for discussion.some think it silly and they are probably right but what i will say is that anyone who thinks foran is a 5/8 is just as silly.great runner, tough defender but very little creativity.

What we have missed over the last two years is inspiration - we have been solid in attack & defence but haven't had the spark / creative genius to get the ball over the line.

Hopefully snakes return will bring that - whether it be the miracle pass or the blistering speed & hole busting ability. Most other teams have the one or two key players that can do this. we've been missing ours for the last couple of seasons.

Look who's been missing in action, Stewart, wolfman etc. The end of last season I didn't go to the saints match as we were fielding a c grade team.

If we can get all the boys on the paddock at the same time there isn't anyone we can't beat. Depth, well - not many teams can boast it & keep under the cap.

Go Manly!

This will surprise many but I've come to accept Matai is nearly as important to the side as Lyon.  He is feared by the opposition and potent out of dummy half.  He will make a difference when he comes back, for as long as he lasts before he does something else illegal.

A very sensible conclusion. Matai means a hell of a lot to our team and will make a difference.
[/quote]He better make a difference and not get another suspension, his resigning cost us any depth in the backline with the loss of farrar
