I though Myles took it well, he said in an interview that he held no ill feeling towards Gallen and that the crowd got what they wanted so all good.

There already talking about police escorts on the ground for Gal up here. The bean pickers are throathing at the mouth in anticipation. I hope it goes the way of first scrum and it's on:D

Who will throw the 1st punch for the QLDers? Billy Slater? lol

That's rich coming from a banjo picker. Third Man Thaiday has been blindsiding opponents in origin for years, and he doesn't even have the balls to do it from front on. And this hero you talk of ? Wally Lewis, the proud man who stood up to a forward. Is that the same proud man who spat on an opponent ??

Let's get some perspective people. On the scale of crimes against Origin humanity, Gallen's wouldn't even rate top 10. If Myles is man enough he can try for a get square next game, but I'd be backing Gallen everyday of the week.

i was confused by the whole thing.

I don't understand why Myles stood there and copped it. I do boxing classes at my ripe old age (edited: thanks Global) at the gym and all i hear over and over is "keep your hands up".

I dont understand why Gallen wasn't at least sin binned.

I dont understand what happened at Match Review and the charges.

I dont understand why everyone is hailing Gallon as a hero for punching someone who didnt even defend themselves.

MOST OF ALL I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY TOUGH GUY THIADAY AND HIS MATES DIDN'T RUN IN THROWING PUNCHES. IT ALL LOOKED A BIT ROUGH IS MY GUESS.

Myles, for all his cheap rubbish, is the only QLD forward with any ticker in my opinion from game 1.

I actually think the on field referees and the match review comittee took what Myles had been doing into account. It was a swinging arm which was punished and a good old origin fight. What did Myles think was going to happen when he pushed Gallen and then he shaped up to him? Did he think he was coming over for a cuddle? Nothing more to see here. Move along.

He should have kept punching him until he beat the queensland out of him...

You have a ripe old old?

That's right folks, I typed it!

Gals a dog !!! you guys are one sided !!!!

cheap shot 1 - came in with a swinging arm and connected
cheap shot 2 - hits myles when he wasnt ready !!!!

anyone can connect if they had a free hit...

what would you guys be saying if he did that to one of our manly players ??? , for whatever reason the dog may have...

he opened the door for free fall , because the refs didnt act on it...
hope he cops a good one game 2

and he only got suspended 1 week for the swinging arm !!!

the guy is a dog that needs peptides !!!

drug cheat and cat !!!! , what sort of tough guy is one that hits a blind ( not ready ) opponent.

whats to be proud of ????

5/8 up against a forward !!! wally lewis standing up to one of the biggest threats and bad man at the time... thats something to be proud of.

You're right, we cant be proud of Gal until we think "what would a Qlder do". It's obvious Gal need to take a dump in the hallway of the hotel up in Brisbane to get hero status

Or go the Thaiday route and stand behind 2 guys and throw one from over their shoulder into Gidley. ;)

Or he could kick someone in the head then run away like the other hero with the number 1 on his back lol

Choc got hit while he wasn't ready a few weeks back, his response was to belt the **** out of Tilse.
Gal could have written Myles a note and passed it to him to make sure he knew he was ready, but it could have taken a while to find somebody wearing Maroon that could read and tell him what it said :p

NSW have to be careful not to be conned here. Qld can dish it out but don't like getting it back.
The last time I can remember such hysteria was in 1992 after the infamous Wally's vs Geyer in game two. All of qld jumped up and down about MG and his tactics then when he was suspended they came out and played dirty themselvesmand bashed NsW out of game 3 and the series. I remember mal with a blatant swinging arm that busted OConnor

Maroons assistant coach Michael Hagan today hinted the budding pugilist could cop his comeuppance at Suncorp Stadium on June 26.

"There might be a little bit of a square-up in Game Two, I might suggest," he told Triple M today.

...So after incessant Qld bleating today of "Why oh why wont someone think of the poor little impressionable children," Hagan says this.

If it happens, there's proof of pre-meditation and I would lol to infinity if the qld player got sent off (as he rightly should be).

List of Qld players game enough to take gallen head on:

...
...
.........

Gallen was the only 1 involved in a fight, though if you look on replay Myles does attempt a punch but is slugged for the 2nd time. It was not an old school, jersey grab & swing - Gallen wanted a KO & executed a combination that showed Myles has a concrete melon.
Anyone pretending it does not add fuel & atmosphere for the next game does not love rugby league - there was a story that lead to this incident - thats why Qld players & officials stood by the call at the time.

Yeah I'm dumbfounded by the inconsistencies. Choc got his leg twisted very obviously in his 1st or 2nd hit up. Blair and Stewart got sent off and many weeks off after the battle of brookvale, and not one punch landed. Tate punched a Nsw player in the face on the ground last series. No action taken on field or later on. Jennings gets a week off last year for throwing a punch. A few years back the qld team staged a very violent passage of play (creagh ran away) and no action taken.

Gallen gets 1 week. If he breaks Myles' jaw he gets a bob cooper length suspension right? Who knows?

Im looking forward to game 2 where Hodges might make that throat slitting gesture he loves so much towards Gallen.

Or maybe Thaiday might corner Gal in the toilet of the away dressing sheds and hump pool old Gal to death.

Or maybe Slater might launch himself over the top of the rest of the maroons and fung fu kick mid air right into the back of Gals head.

Or maybe Campbell Newman might arrive at Suncorp in a leopard tank and sneakily take Gal out from within his hiding spot in one of the four corner access bays.

I cant wait !

Must be bringing up NSW Police because Campbell Newman retrenched all of the QLD public servants!

Can't wait for Gallen to land in QLD. It's going to be like the Monorail episode of the Simpsons where Lyle Lanley has a stopover in North Haverbrook.

"There he is! Seat 3F!"

Then there will be a mob run on with pitch forks.

well said mate

my point in my past post was - THAT IT WAS A CHEAP SHOT !!!!!

and were making this guy a hero....young kids want to copy their so called heroes then you hear about brawls with youth teams and everyone is up in arms ,

i dont disagree that thaiday , burgess, creagh etc are cats
( no doubt ).. but thats not my point !!!!

origin moments we should talk about are winning field goals , coyne's try , oconner's kick from the sideline etc...

but cmon , if gallen did that to ( example ) glenn stuart i bet the comments here will be very different.

if you people dont think that was a cheap shot and applaud this action ,

if it ever happened to someone ( close to home ) you like or care about , make sure you dont forget to celebrate... instead of showing concern or getting upset....

I dont go for qld !!!! just dont like several players in the NSW team...

It was face to face, so I don't call it a cheap shot. It would have been fairly obvious to Myles there was a chance of that happening and he probably wishes he had have gotten in 1st now

The someone close to home thing isn't a great point, it happened on the rugby league field.
If somebody smashes my old lady with a Matai special I wouldn't be cheering it but I cheer it on the league field when he does it

mate , your missing the point
if thats not a cheap shot then what is ???

if you think myles was ready for that , then you better get to OPSM and get your eyes checked

2 guys face to face mouthing off at each other, there had already been a push, if Myles didn't think there was a chance of a blue then I think he may be in the wrong profession !! The only reason Myles wouldn't be thinking along those lines is a lack of intelligence which I will give you as plausible

A cheap shot is something from the side or behind when someone is not watching and has very little chance of seeing it, or a guy is being held by others then they throw a couple

Tilse shaped up and threw the 1st one at Choc a few weeks back and I wouldn't call that one cheap either, difference was Choc realized where he was and what could happen and was ready to respond

I'm looking forward to having a Manly game to discuss soon !!

It is easier if you just say a cheap shot is what a Queenslander throws. A New South Welshman might get in first but it's face to face at least.

I expect the Maroons will go back to their heroic get square technique of putting up a bomb and the whole side running through to smash whoever happens to be underneath it. So brave.
