Brent Kite and his manager are hoping to finalise at least a 2 year deal, i assume with Manly. I think with the $$$ he commands, letting him go would be in the clubs best interests with these youngsters comming through. Thoughts?

How much $$ do you think he would command?  Surely it would be much less than when we signed him.

I think Kite still has plenty to offer. Any new contract would likely be significantly less then his current contract. If we can afford him and we can also retain our up and comers, keep him.

every player has a correct value, kite on solid $$ is ok, on what his current contract is a bit too much

Cant argue with that,

Kite would be on about $180k or so I would imagine

Let's see how he goes this year before rushing in. I've been disappointed in him the last 2 seasons, it's little wonder he has lost his representative spot as he is off the pace IMO.

I wouldnt mind seeing another year or two from him which would be enough to start seeing the young guys really come through. In his last year he would start seeing less and less first grade I imagine as the young kids push on.

Then at the end of that deal a lot of the young forwards will be up for their new contracts especially the likes of Harrison. We can then offer them a first grade spot to sweeten the deal in re-signing them

I think he would be on more

When he came across I am pretty sure the figure sprouted was between 180 and 220k

He said pre season he would be keen to stay on

Don't discount the respect he has around the club and the positive influence he has on the kids around the place as well, he is an asset to the club, and at the right price we would be mad not to keep him around

Upgraded his contract after 2007 remember

Upgrade doesnt mean more money he extended it rather than upgraded it

Good leader of the pack, keep him as long as it's "market value" (for his current performance)....he's a very good family man as well and as such a good influence off field.

Look at the stats. You get at least 110 metres out of Kite every time he plays. He may not be SOO quality any more, but he is a damn solid prop.
