I agree with most of this but was a bit surprised Matai was so disliked, I thought it mainly the grubs that are not liked. I don't see Matai as a grub. Would put Slater and Smith ahead of Matai by a long shot!

Also, the salary cap should be changed to reward juniors who stay at a club, maybe get a loyalty reduction that kicks in after a few years. There also needs to be something that allows long term servers finish out their time with the one club, for the likes of Kite, Fatty, etc.... And if a player requests a release from a contract, and it is granted, all promised contract payments should be dropped immediately, and I would like to see a penalty payment of say 10% of the first years new contract go to the past club.

Matai is disliked by opposition fans because he scares the sh!te out of them ;)

Yeah, Stevie, Choc and the Stewarts are hated by opposition fans. Hated like we hate Inglis or Slater. I'm not saying that their justifications for it have any merrit but these people really do feel that way about our players, our club and us.
They are all filth, never forget that. Do them in before they have a chance at you.

Paul Gallen the toughest forward in the NRL? Excuse me, I need to dash before I have an accident from laughing so much.....

Sorry, but to me a tough guy isn't someone who punches someone else who is just standing there (don't get me wrong, I'm no fan of Nate Myles, but he wasn't even shaping up to Gallen when the dog hit him).

Why wasn't Greg Inglis an option in the player we most love to hate? Are they afraid of having a published record of what most league fans actually think of GI? (not taking away from his skill as a player.....when he's not taking dives)

What about Hodges? He's streets ahead of the rest in my book.
Can't stand that bloke.

It's quite a good result in some parts for Manly - the vast majority want to keep suburban grounds (82%) & hardly anyone thinks Manly is a poorly run club (1.7%), and there are not too many Sydney teams.

So I guess the Tele is way off the mark with its continued bashing of our board & the brookie question. Wonder if this survey will change their editorial stance on this stuff, given it is what the fans really think? Shows how off the mark rothfield and his cronies are.

Also shows how dumb some fans are - 33% think SBW is the best VALUE recruit. Surely he is paid a motza. He may be the best recruit, but best value is debatable.

the rugby player i would most like to see come across is Pockock, one of the few tough skillful players in the wabblies. Also though lawrence would be right up there in buy of the year.

Lot of people cannot differentiate matai of 5 years ago and matai of today, most opp fans i have talked to really like the matai of today once you ask them to break it up but say they hate him first up

72.4% are in favour of keeping the video ref. Must be because they do such a great job...

Looks like you and me are in the minority. I find those stats hard to believe. If they think the game has been improved by the video ref then they obviously are not old enough to remember how one ref and two touchies used to do a better job officiating - and without nearly as many controversies.
