Eagles Vs. Redskins: Philadelphia Falls Just Short Of NFL First Half Point Record

Just as it seemed the Redskins might have a glimmer of hope to make this disaster of a game into a competitive contest after scoring two touchdowns following starting out to a 35-0 deficit, the Eagles scored another 10 points before the end of the first half to put the game prohibitively out of reach before the break.

The Eagles were driving at the end of the half ahead 42-14 with a chance to tie the 1983 Packers for the highest first half score in NFL history. Those Packers scored 49 points in the first half of a game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Eagles were forced to kick a field goal, and thus were denied one record.

But the record 55 point total that marks the highest ever for a team on Monday Night Football is still certainly within reach, unless the Eagles intend to sit absolutely everyone in the second half.

From what i saw the eagles stayed heavily offensive in driving rains,Vick was bullet passing from the pocket and oh my god he looked absolutely magic,it was like watching Madden 2011 but for real, they did back off on the scoring in the 2nd half but oh my god, they look REALLY dangerous

Vick was on fire. They absolutely slaughtered the redskins

I went to the loo when that game was about to start, came back and the clock was at 14:48 and they were 7 - 0  up.

And that was a high point for the skins :)

You might want to rephrase that otherwise they'll think you have a thing against the casino indians

$40 mil guaranteed on a $78mil contract
For that price we could buy GI DOE,kill him and use him
as a marionette in the front row for when Kite retires

He does value money over everything else after all

Brilliant game, have it saved to IQ & rewatched it a few times. Vick is a beast, I just hope he can bring us a lombardi before he gets banged up beyond repair or reverts back to the "old Vick" ways. Rumour has it that he will get the franchise tag next year so Philly should be in a prime position to make a tilt at the title if Reid can shore up the OL, Secondary & LB corps in the off-season. Tough, but do-able (Faith in the fat man!).

As for the present i'm glad we ran up the score against the 'Skins. Couldn't happen to a nicer bunch of thugs. Hilarity ensues when/if LaRon Landry gets slammed by the NFL for spitting on Mike McGlynn (twice!) & starting the pre-game scuffle. Hope they enjoy five years of mediocrity with Mcnabb.

McNabb just didn't have it for the Eagles and I said so during the playoffs this year. Deep down I feel he is below the grade of a good QB. Strange decision to move him to a divisional rival that was short of one though.

Not to weird though, for instance RLs version of the QB,im happy our 2010 version is now in a rival team,he obviously isnt what is going to win a comp,Mcnabbs numbers poorness are only rivalled by the amount of interceptions off Favre

McNabb was never a great QB, he was a good QB back in the early 2000s but has faded badly. Andy Reid is probably the best evaluator & coach of QB talent in the league & for him to trade McNabb to a division rival says a lot.

Reid covered McNabb for a long time, Shanahan wont do the same. It'll be interesting to see how long 5 stays in D.C.
