Yeah, how good Irvine could have been will always be a debate.

Had the occasion to play outside Frogs eyes in a few lower grade games so I probably have an unfair advantage when discussing his pace, but to give you an idea of his acceleration, in a reggies game at Redfern he took a ball on our own ten yard line and lit the afterburners and I took off after him, by the time we hid the 25m he was about 8m in front and I thought F..K. By the time we hid the 80m I was only 2m behind and took the pass to score. I was quicker over the 100m but as I said he got faster each year by training hard and his 100m pace increased a lot.
So you were a winger @Woodsie? Did you get to play any first grade games?

No, only hope was for at least 25 players to suddenly get injured.

In '76 we won both 1st's and reggies and in cricket parlance we batted down to #11. Just to get a reggies run was special enough for me. Plus I was never that serious, footy was just something you did with your mates.

As I have said once before, I wasn't much of a footballer, but boy I hung around a few good ones.

Well you picked the right era that's for sure.

People may be surprised to learn our own Nate Myles has actually done a sub 10 time for the 100m.

I have it on good authority that he's recorded a time of 9 mins 54 seconds.
I think it took him 9 months and 21 days to rack up 100m running metres last season.
