Is David Williams on the outer at Manly. I would of thought with Tafua out on Friday night that Williams would of come into the starting side. It looks like he is behind Hiku and Gutherson at the moment for that wing spot. I wouldn't be surprised if he is released for 2015.[/i]

Blair, Satini & co are stopgaps. Gutherson is the future. I'm happy with him being top of the pecking order. I say next time Brett is injured, Gutherson goes to fullback. He showed he's ready for it. There's no need to shield him by playing Hiku there.

Very handy stopgaps too. Any team without these types of stopgaps will suffer should injury strike. That's why I was enquiring. EagleFromMay1967 as well I assume. We all know Gutho is the next big thing.

The downside of course is when the stopgaps are the ones getting injured. :(

the young fella did some good things great under a few bombs, finished try and good in defence, chip down sideline was class. that try at back only oversight he prob that snake would have got there but all learning only young seems good player.

2v seems content to ease the youngsters into first grade. Even with Guthbo having a solid game, I wouldn't be surprised if Wolf was picked on the wing next game.

I'd say the pecking order right now in regard to wingers is,

1. Jorge
2. Hiku
3. Gutherson
4. Blair (although he's injured)
5. Wolfie

Unfortunately, barring a major injury crisis, I can't see him seeing first grade again.

A shame because he has given his all to our club and played some brilliant games, scoring tries most others couldn't.

Don't fully agree with your rankings but agree your sentiments about Wolfie.

Fit and in form Wolfie would be #1 for mine, but sadly that is not so.
Hiku does a competent job in most positions but Gutho will improve with every game.

Remember the gag about wingers ... guys that hung out with footballers. No more, it is a hard and specialised position now.

I suspect that wolf's injury in the 9s set him back. I have seen him in a couple of 1st grade and lower grade games this year and he looks to be playing injured - not his explosive 100% self. Maybe he is seen as a right side specialist winger too, which explains not coming in for Jorge.

The woflman and Jamie Lyon had such a great understanding in attack. I'm not sure what happened, maybe he has a chronic injury otherwise I can only think tooves has lost confidence in his defensive abilities.

Gutho said he knew on Tuesday he was in the team...

So unless Wolfie is injured somewhat, or recovering in general, that's a clear statement by Tooves on how he sees things at the moment.

(Blair being injured too).

Or was it us and Wolfie?

I am not sold on Hiku playing wing...

I think he will be a fine centre (lovely footwork, fend, and sleight of hand), but we need something more explosive down the flank.

Taufua has disappointed me a little this year with errors. He is an explosive runner, but suspect under the high ball and gets his timing wrong occasionally on the backline sweeps.

Wolfman WAS great, but without that burst of speed, he is rendered useless due to the error prone nature of his game.

Realistically, I think Hiku and Taufua are going to be our wingers for at least the remainder of this year, and next year, before Lyon or Matai make way for Hiku.

Hiku is a good all rounder.not fast enough for the wing. Will be a good center. Can't see him taking a spot at center unless someone leaves or is injured. I think Lyon only recently signed a new contract.
