Pomeroy  . WTF. Has this guy scored a try, made a line break or even set up a try this year ? There must be slim pickings in the City Centre ranks if he is getting a run. The Sharks have the worst \"for\" in the comp because they can't score a try due to having duds like this clown playing in the outside backs.

As for Corey Hughes.....puhlease. Rather see someone like Isaac Luke or De Gois given a go

Luke is a Kiwi. De Gois...must've been close.

Was Watmough ruled out from injury? Surly he should have a place in city country match.

Orford didn't get picked because he's just not that good.  What amazed me was Gasnier being picked in the Australian side.  He's out of form and hasn't made a bust all year.  His defense is suspect as well.  The Kangaroo will win by 60 easy.

Orford didn't get a run because he isn't a very good halfback.

I'd take any of the halves picked over Orford. Credit where it's due he played well on saturday night. But, I'd hate to see the bloke playing for NSW. NSW would get pumped. Unfortunately for him he's just not up to that tier of football

was scrolling down this thread waitign for someone to state the obvious, wasn't until DSM5 and nutzcraw actually made some sense.

Orford wasnt picked simply because he isnt going to ever play origin because he isn't good enough, he is fast entering into the Craig Field realm of over paid over rated halfbacks to don the 7 for us.

Yes he played well on Saturday night, and when he plays well he is reasonable, but week in week out he ranges from average to useless.

Finch has had 1 good ****ing game all year and has been attrocious in others.

Orford played all over him in their match up.

I am sick of the media trying to control this game, with rules and the player selections. Let them ****ing play it

The problem is Dan some of them used to, and that fact makes people think their opinions are holy orders issued from on high.

Whereas in fact if they hadnt played the game nobody would give a toss about their opinion.

The channel Nien (sp) crew is the worst of the lot, yes they were reasonable players (most of them) doesn't mean they know jack all about it these days.

Orford missed out because of his reputation not to perform in the big games.Last years grand final dented a lot of the Manly players reputations, especially Orford.

Perry shafted

Country selectors are a joke, starting the form 2nd rower at prop, and 2 more 2nd rowers on the bench. 2 specialist props in a rep game

NRL.com has just announced that Brett Stewart,Jason King and Jamie Lyon are all out of Fridays game.King has an injured ankle,Stewart a calf injury and Lyon has stood down for personal reasons

Good move by Des. City v Country is an injury fest, I doubt stewart is injured and i'd say Lyon has pulled the plug also at the coaches request

Actually it's because he realizes these games are a waste of time, better spent playing on the X-box.  Why bother when injury may await and he's no chance of getting picked for Australia or NSW given the bias of selectors and the coach.  I've always hated Manly players being in these teams as they always risk injury.  The premiership is all that really matters.

Exactly. Lyon and Brett Stewart have performed at higher levels, so they're not really going to gain anything from the match (except if Lyon put in an excellent performance, he might be considered more for Origin, but it's consistent good footy for the club that counts more). The rep experience might be a good thing for Glenn Stewart and could lift him to another level.

City Country isn't really that high a level though is it??

When you look at it the nominal "best 17" are already excluded, then the Qlders are all excluded, then the Kiwis (and other OS players) are excluded.

I think the clubs (all not just ours) have shown a bit of what they think of it by the number of pullouts already.

It's an exhibition game which doesnt really mean a great deal as far as SOO spots, there are a few spots but does anybody really think Craig Bellamy will be picking his side after this game??

It was a handy vehicle to take the game to the country areas as they did a few times, but WIN stadium is hardly the bush.
