Give me DCE over any halfback in the comp. At this point he has the potential to be the number one but the price tag of the number 16 in the NRL. If you'd rather pay overs for someone average who'll only ever be that, then yes I find that stupid and offencive and rather conservative.

The injuries to those other guys will hopefully be over. I'd rather risk it & keep them than ditch them & have them play blinders for another club.
Surely the worst thing that can happen in footy is what happened to us with JWH or Parra with Dave Williams. I never want to see another player leave Manly to go on to bigger things elsewhere, regardless of who we think we can buy with the savings. We've kept the best of the group together & put young blokes around them. How is that not the perfect situation?

I like DCE and can see the potential in him but over any halfback in the comp?  Potential is the hardest thing in the world to live up to.  For every guy that makes it the pubs and clubs are full of guys who couldn't, most didn't knuckle down when they had the chance but it also comes a bit down to luck.

Unfortunately our club is behind the times and still don't realise the importance on the the internet. They've shut done the forum and I bet the hits on the mwse site has dropped dramatically. I used to visit the site every day but now rarely go to the site now. No wonder the sponsors are queing up, NOT!

I said it at the beginning of last season and I'll say it again, can someone please tell me the last team to win the Comp with a rookie halfback.

The best we can hope for in 2011 is to make the 8 and make up the numbers, just like we have the past 2 years.

I just hope I'm proven wrong, but it is a little difficult to get excited about the season with so many unknown quantities such as:

1. Will DCE be able to step up
2. Will Foran suffer 2nd year syndrome
3. Will Snake have his pace and confidence
4. Will the forwards have a dig
5. Will Matai be suspended.......again
6. Will Wolf get through round 1 without an injury

Just now, the glass is half empty, sorry for the pessimism but the front office has a lot to answer for.

I may of layed it on a bit thick with a few of my comments, I was just frustrated i thought we would be a good chance of snaring Glenn Hall after being unable to keep  a few of the players let go due to salary cap. I differed a bit from most i thought Farrar and Bailey offered fantastic versatility and depth. I wanted to keep them all,But i also know they did keep whatever the cap allowed.I was hoping Hall would of been a bargain pickup.

Hall earned himself a massive upgrade at Manly before moving on to the UK. I think he played his first season with us for 50k and said he was willing to back his ability to get the upgrade, which he definately did.
So Hall was never really going to be a bargain buy IMO.

Agree with WAMF, Hall was a very smart buy a few years ago, doesn't mean he's a smart buy in 2011. If someone we need pops up I reckon we could find a way to squeeze them in, Hall aint it at the mo.
