Did Craig Innes come straight from the rah rahs?

He was an All Black before he went to Leeds (played against the 1994 Kangaroos and had a shocker that night, but then so did his team mates) and the Perth Reds before we got him.

One or two more I can recall.....

Illawarra Steelers - Brendan Reeves
Wollongong Wests - Bob Fulton, Glenn Stewart, Brett Stewart (and I think Kevin Schubert)
Castleford - Mal Reilly, Kevin Ward, Gary Stephens, Steve Norton
Wigan - the Iro's, Graham Lowe
Hull KR - Phil Lowe
St Helens - Jamie Lyon
North Sydney - Max Whitehead, Johnny Bliss, Ken Irvine, Don McKinnon, Marty Bella, Cliffy Lyons (and from the time when Arko was our coach, Peter Diversi. He is actually Ray Price's uncle)
Rorters - Wally O'Connell, Peter Gallagher, Noel Cleal, Kerry Boustead, Ron Gibbs, Dave Brown
Western Suburbs - Les Boyd, Ray Brown, John Ribot, David Gillespie, Neil Tierney
Penrith - Des Hasler, Jamie Oljenik
Souffs - Ray Branighan, John O'Neill, Tom Mooney, Ian Roberts, Mark Carroll and unfortunately, Craig Field (what was Bozo thinking signing Field???)
Brisbane (pre-Broncos) - Paul Vautin, Chris Close, John McDonald, Mick Veivers
Widnes - John Devereux
Knights - Ben Kennedy, Chris Bailey
Newcastle (pre-Knights) - Allan Thomson (from Lakes United)
Canberra - Michael Robertson, Mark Bryant
St George - Michael O'Connor

That's all for now.

On our last MWTS tour to NZ we had the Iro brothers and Craig Innes join us for a few beers and a chat at the Mount Albert Rugby League Club, Innes looked fit enough to run out the next day.

Gee he was a quality centre.

Wow, you'd have to put Wollongong Wests and Castleford near the very top of our best recruitment clubs based on those lists

We signed Hall from Roosters and Mason from Knights.

Hasler had only played half a dozen games or so for Penrith so wasn't really an established first grader

Des got lucky. He was a school teacher who just happened to have either Brett or Scott Fulton in his class. He was really a reserve grader and was actually contemplating quitting the game because also coming through at that time was Greg Alexander. If Des hadn't been given a chance by Bozo to change clubs his career might have gone on a very different path.

Funny, we had Phil Blake as our halfback at the time, but I don't think its much of a secret that Bozo didn't have a lot of time for Blake as a player. Couldn't defend in Bozo's eyes which is why Des got a crack at being halfback.

A few more.....

Canterbury-Bankstown - Ron Willey, Max Brown, Dennis Ward, Rod Jackson
Speels - Peter Peters, David Williams, George Rose, Tony Williams, Joe Galuvao, Jamie Buhrer
Wests - Stephen Knight, Terry Hill, Jim Serdaris
Melbourne - Matt Orford, Steven Bell
Mt Albert (NZ) - Darrell Williams
Townsville (pre-Cowboys) - Danny Moore
Auckland RU - Matthew Ridge
Easts - Heath L'Estrange

Best player who played for just about every club: tezza

I was only reading yesterday that after Tezza signed with us he was at a function for about 300 sponsors and club officials.....and jokingly told everyone there that he was glad he signed with us because it was his goal to play with every club in the league. Apparently it caused a few forks to be dropped in shock lol.

Wests - Ray Brown, John Dorahy, Kevin McGuinness
Parramatta - Geoff Gerard, Tony Melrose, David Liddiard, David Williams
Easts - Kerry Boustead, Ian Schubert, Marty Gurr, Ron Gibbs, George Rose
Newtown - Phil Sigsworth
Canterbury - Glenn Hall, Willie Mason
Souths - Ian Roberts, Craig Field, Josh Starling
Penrith - Scott Pethybridge
Canberra - Luke Williamson, Mark Bryant
Brisbane - Ben Walker
North Queensland - Ben Farrar
Gold Coast - Brenton Lawrence
I think we took Melrose from lol@souffs.

Mitchell Cox was another one we got from Norths.

Who can forget Heckenburg, Hollingsworth and Donnelly - the great front row post NE.

Can't believe we've never poached a Balmain player in all these years.

To CandC: Chris Close - the man's ball control skills were on a par with Watmough's!

Try Ken Day or Mick Veivers instead.:)

Wasn't Knight a Manly RU junior
I think so. Also a little known fact is that Ben Kennedy played for manly ru prior to going to Canberra. He couldn't see a pathway through the young beaver, kosef and Gartner back row.
