Is it just a strain and he'll be right to play Friday or is he going to be out for a while?
He is the heart and soul of this side and without him playing we look lost in defence and attack.

I agree TEHL. Things have been suspiciously quiet....and I don't like it.

Word is he's no chance for Friday though.

I love all the reports that came out last night, yet he was having scans this morning.

Will find out tomorrow with it being Team List Tuesday

He won't be playing this week, he couldn't even drive his car back from the game. I think the earliest would be 4 weeks.

It really is becoming some what of a concern! Still 3 years to run on a contract that is worth a huge amount to our salary cap, manly won't force snake out, if there's a decision to be made it will be by snake. And I'd have no doubts it would be frustrating the hell out of him. My concerns are like others on this forum, he's had the whole off season to recover and re build his legs, and it took 40 minutes for his hammy to crumble. When does it get to a stage where the coaching staff stand back and say is it worth 1 or 2 good games for him to have 3 off injured !

I know Snake's constant injuries are frustrating for fans. It's round two this week of a 26 week comp. Before people start planning to retire him shouldn't we wait and see what he brings to the team this season?
Heal well Snake. Can't wait for his next try at Brookie.
As for Manly it's got to be insulting to the other 24 members of the top squad when the rest of the comp thinks of the Sea Eagles as a one man team.
The players owe it to themselves to show all the doubters that we can win with or without Snake. We've got some pretty handy players available.

Snake is a brilliant player and the difference to me from finishing 4th or 5th and winning a comp.

However, losing him in a game against quality opposition will always screw us. Suddenly Matai on wing....lose his effectiveness, and he got caught positionally for a try, not his fault, I saw Killer play wing one game and he was b***** awful. Just couldn't position himself right. It also put Horo in an unfamiliar situation.

When we line up without him we'll win plenty. (we just might win a couple more with him there).

Buhrer also one time played on the wing, was awful and not fast enough. The Wing Position is a Specialised position, you can't just throw anyone into that, It is a difficult and stressful position on the field and you can't afford to make mistakes, positioning in defence is so important you have to read the game, be focussing on the ball the whole time and be Confident in catching high bombs, quick for grubbers and of course have speed.

I fear for Brett, cant see any way that he will last as long as another 3 years.

Might be wrong but I'd say those knee injuries have caused some hamstring issues and he's probably at risk every time he runs hard.

Maybe Gutherson is the future, if so he needs to bulk up and get NRL experience and soon

Too right, I think most teams have become a little complacent in the modern era that wingers are just another type of forwards who do the first few hitups of a set.

The reality is pretty much what you are saying, but the key is positional play, you can really tell when someone who hasn't played wing gets thrown there (usually due to injury). Against ordinary teams you wont get found out too badly, but come up against a team with a scheming couple of play makers (Smith, Cronk, DCE, Foz) and they'll make you pay.

So true and good coaches would be instructing to give plenty of high ball out for the opposition wingers and hopefully there will be some drop ball, players out of position and opportunity for tries

Can someone explain WHY you would weaken 2 other important positions to cover for the fullback. I do not understand why you would put Horo at center and Matai wing. Surely the only sensible option was throw Buhrer on the wing Hiku to fullback. It badly weakened our defense by moving those 2 players out of position and Storm won the game because of it. 2V decision was equally responsible for that loss as was the poor disipline from several players and the sh** refereeing.

My Mother could run faster than Buhrer so no I would not put him anywhere near the wing, he has played there before and had a shocker, he can't run for a start. Hiku should be the fullback if Brett is injured but Tooves had No Winger on the bench. My Post before this is regarding Wingers, you can't just put anyone on to cover that roll, there is a lot of ticking the boxes to play in that position. Hopefully Tooves will sort this out against Souths.

The one in my back yard about a month ago was critical when I last saw it. 4 to 6 good hits to the back with the shovel seemed to cause most of the damage.

BTW the shovel had to have its handle replaced and I had a couple of nasty splinters in my hand.

Thanks for asking.

So injury update from the club says he is unlikely to play. Will know today how long for.

Doesnt sound like too long. Also said wolfy should play on friday.

With The Snake playing were a Premiership winning side without him we'll be lucky to make the top 8.

Well we are in trouble then, because he looks like he will be out more than he will be in. Snake can be replaced by Hiku or Gutherson quite effectively, but they need to play there week in week out to develop the skills and combinations.

Having Snake in for a game here and there does more harm to the team cohesion than the benefit we get from him when he is fit and firing. I can't believe I'm saying this, but it's time for Snake to take Kingy's hand and for the pair of them to skip off into retirement.

The quicker he gets on to the Platlet Rich Plasma Therapy the better.
See: http://www.ssmc.com.au/education/prpinjections.html

It wont concern ASADA, its your own blood. He needs some radical fix, and he needs it NOW.:exclamation:
