According to SMH we are still going hard for Sironen. This today

Manly attempt to prise Curtis Sironen from Wests Tigers
SMH.com.au - November 1, 2016 - 3:15 pm33
The Sironen surname is synonymous with the Tigers, but that could change if Manly have their way.

The Sea Eagles are attempting to prise Curtis Sironen out of Concord, although the move will depend on whether the clubs can agree to a payout figure. Sironen re-signed with Wests Tigers in June in a move that would keep him there until at least the end of 2018. However, Manly want to add him to their roster and are prepared to pay the joint-venture club a fee to secure his release.

Sironen has made 62 NRL appearances for the Tigers since his debut four years, although only eight of those came in an injury-interrupted 2016 season. He struggled to squeeze back into the first-grade side at the back end of the year and was instead a part of the Intrust Super Premiership outfit that made it to the finals.

The son of Balmain legend Paul Sironen, the 23-year-old can play at five-eighth but has spent most of his career in the second row. The Sea Eagles are in the midst of a major roster overhaul and view Sironen as a valuable addition if he is prepared to make the switch.

The Gold Coast Titans have moved quickly to replace Greg Bird, signing Kevin Proctor from the Melbourne Storm on a four-year deal.

Manly in talks with Pommy backrower

Manly haven’t finished their roster overhaul with talks continuing as they attempt to bring Curtis Sironen across from the Tigers. They have also been in dialogue with a backrower in the Super League after releasing Jamie Buhrer to Newcastle.

Foxsports.com.au won’t publish the former NRL player’s name as he is yet to ask his current club for a release.

While the Sea Eagles traded Buhrer for Aku Uate, they are also short an outside back.

Penrith utility Dean Whare has been linked with a return but the Panthers are adamant he will see out his contract.

The same goes for exciting winger Dallin Waetene-Zelezniak who the mountain men are in discussions with to extend his stay a further two seasons.

Former New Zealand international Kevin Locke will attempt to revive his NRL career with Manly.

The fullback will aim to play in the club's trial matches in February.

Locke has not played in the NRL since he left the Warriors after five years in mid-2014 to join English Super League outfit Salford.

The fullback spent an unhappy year with the Red Devils, where he accused the franchise of unpaid wages and endured injuries and personal issues before joining Wakefield.

The eight-Test international's injury-ravaged three-month stint with the Wildcats ended after five games.

He was also suspended by the club for being involved in a car crash with former Parramatta playmaker Tim Smith.

Locke signed with the National Rugby Championship's Western Sydney Rams in June but he did not feature in the club's 2016 campaign.

Jeremy Lattimore was granted a release from Penrith to pursue his career with another NRL club.
