ONE of Manly’s finest is backing Manly coach Des Hasler to permanently shift Jamie Lyon to five-eighth for the remainder of the season. The recent addition of Cowboys centre Ben Farrar to the Sea Eagles squad has opened the door for Lyon to move back into Manly’s No.6 jumper. The 27-year-old has been named in the centres for Monday night’s round 17 clash with the Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval, with Chris Bailey at five-eighth and Farrar on the wing at the expense of Tony Williams. But The Manly Daily understands Hasler is considering switching Lyon to pivot, allowing Bailey to move into the forwards and leaving Farrar in his preferred centre position. It’s an option former Sea Eagles premiership-winning five-eighth Cliff Lyons believes could benefit Hasler’s men in the lead up to the finals. “I’m sure Dessy will be thinking about it,” Lyons said. “He (Lyon) did quite well there last season. “I wouldn’t put it past Dessy to give it a go. “Jamie’s a great player and his form has been really good.” Lyon has starred for Manly this season playing in the centres, resulting in a call up to the NSW State of Origin team. But the Wee Waa-junior can also cut it in the No.6, as he demonstrated last season by playing a leading role in the club’s premiership success. With the Blues having major problems in the halves, it’s also believed NSW selectors are seriously considering moving Lyon closer to the action for game III in Brisbane on July 15. The Sea Eagles have some great deals going on family tickets for Monday’s blockbuster against the Bulldogs with the Fulton-Menzies Stand going for $70 (normally $90) and general admission $50 (usually $65). The offer is only available until midnight Sunday at http://www.ticketmaster.com.au and outlets including Manly Leagues Club.
