Do you mean ever? Also, round 21 is against Easts. Round 26 is against Canterbury.

    Pre-Game Dragons v Manly [Round 4, 2024]

If the defending winger stays with his man and the opposition centre scores then it's the defensive centre who'll get blamed. A winger rushing in and not stopping the play looks terrible.

    Other Games [Round 4, 2024]

Another week another Ludicrous decision from the Bunker Bozo. Fortunately it was against Easts, which means NRL officials may take some notice when Uncle Nick calls them to complain.

These Black and white rules are still grey

Yeah, and it will continue to happen until we get back to the original way the sport was refereed: decisions made by the referee on what they saw. There were plenty of dubious decisions in the old days but they were over in the blink of an eye and not allowed to fester for days after the event.

Annesley's weakly "Why this happened" report - 2024 edition.

The above hypothesis underscores what is wrong with our sport. Video refereeing has become so technical you need to be a quantum physicist to work out if it is a try or not. Yet our eyes told us instantly that it was a great example of attacking football that should be applauded. Our sport has...

These Black and white rules are still grey

It's not just the technology causing problems, it's the rules surrounding when it can be used, and for what reason. Had Turbo been tackled, and Manly had scored the following play the Bunker could not have ruled on the obstruction. So we have a system where only tries are examined, not every...

Ian Heads dies after long illness

I played against Heads in the Journalist Cup, and alongside him in the representative NSW V Queensland clash in 1971. He was a tough prop, and Captain. I didn't know him well, but I'm sure he bet on RL. He told me he'd backed St George to win all three grades on finals day at astronomical odds...

These Black and white rules are still grey

Not true, according to Annusly who says the Bunker has discretionary powers, and he highlighted this in a decision in the Penrith V Brisbane match. In this latter instance the Bunker used --- wait for it -- common sense to rule a try because the player interfered with (Kapow, who takes a solid...

    Post-Game Discussion Eels v Manly [Round 3, 2024]

Maybe, but he's not supposed to rush in and miss!

These Black and white rules are still grey

The remedy is simply: Get rid of the Bunker. The on-field ref rightly ruled it a try. Why can't we return to the sport we all started following, when common sense rulings applied and if the eye couldn't see something then it didn't happen? The NRL would save a lot of money. Decisions would be...

Hooker is still our biggest issue

Froggy is one of our best most matches. As pointed out on this forum, our three main problems today were: 1. The inability to restrict Doesn'tmatta's offloads 2. Paulo had a shocker, particularly in defence, but he also was poor in attack 3. The Bunker, which again proved how easily it is to rig...

Annesley's weakly "Why this happened" report - 2024 edition.

This is exactly the point. If we are going to stop-frame every try to 'ensure' that our eyes are deceiving us then why not during the lead-up to the try? Why not the whole match? In fact, why have an on-field human ref at all? Let's just use a drone controlled by AI? In fact, let's not even...
